It has been several months since I began preparing for the Medical Entrance exam. I am a good student with strong grades but lack a specific career goal. Due to my upper-middle-class background, my parents have strongly encouraged me to pursue a medical career, even if it requires a substantial investment of 60 lakhs. I saw this as a secure option for my future, especially if I were to study in Nepal. Initially, I aimed to achieve an average score of 140 marks to secure admission to a good college without any scholarship. However, I am now experiencing burnout after just two to three months of intensive study. Considering the prospect of a lengthy journey towards a medical doctorate, I question whether I truly want my parents to invest this significant sum in a field that I’m not sure I will enjoy.
If I do not gain admission to a reputable medical college, my plan was to take a gap year and pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) instead of MBBS. However, I am now contemplating filling out the application form for the IOE as a backup option. The challenge is that the entrance exam for IOE is only four days before the medical entrance exam, which doesn’t leave me with enough time to adequately prepare for both.
What should I do? Should I fill out the IOE form as a backup, or should I focus solely on preparing for the MBBS entrance exam, or should I consider taking a gap year as a last resort?
FILL THE IOE FORM. I was literally in the same position as you. A year of my precious time wasted cause of my indecisiveness. You can talk to me in the dms. The resemblance of our situation is uncanny lol.

You will get good return on investment by almost half of that money, if you invest it on going abroad with eventual setllement.
Regarding Medicine, the likes of associate professors are leaving Nepal, seeing no future in Nepal, not just for themselves but even more for their offsprings.
Talk to all levels of people in medicine in Nepal starting from
* 1st year med student to Final year med student.
* An intern doctor
* A medical officer,
* A PG resident
* A Registrar
* A consutant
* A DM/Mch resident
* An associate professor
* Professor.
Everyone of them will give you a different insight. But most( almost 95%) will tell you to opt elsewhere, rather than toiling away life in this field.

Fully prepare for mbbs … just give engineering too .. you can ..engineering kai lai prepare gaari rakhna pardaina ..mbbs ko le ni kaam garxa
With such English, Good grades and parents backup to support you the best bet is to pursue a degree in foreign rather than IOE. About medical journey I cant say much but just be ready to study like a lunatic for upcoming 10 years. Btw if you got passion for it you will make it out with fun but choosing it just because you see no career ahead except medical is common as you have surrounded yourself with such people in +2 bio. But know that working like 24/7 in emergency ward, seeing blood in hands, knowing the fact someones life depends upon you, studying years and years is pretty tough journey. There are literally 100s of career and degrees that would work out (ofc not in nepal though) and would be less tough of a journey but equally rewarding or sometimes even more as medical field pays you in 30s taking your youth away but others pays anytime when you work for it.
Dont go for MBBS.. Its not worth it for your time and money.. Please pursue other course
