Honestly I can’t blame workers for leaving the country, for pursuing their own class interests.
The elites don’t care about you, and only want to retain a labour force, that is able to sustain their own way of life to the detriment of the wider working class.
If you want Doctors, pay them enough for their labour, better their working conditions and invest in a Universal Healthcare System.
People are not obligated to serve a State just because they were born there; especially not when that State does its best, to extract every single ounce of value from its citizens.

This is a fact. As a doctor, I completely agree. I worked 2*24 hours shifts in hospitals and was paid Rs 8000 weekly and 32000 monthly. Getting into US for residency is very very tough, as the writer even couldn’t match here. Fortunately, I matched this year on my first cycle and came here for opportunities and good pay. I make 60000$ yearly as a first year resident and have to work significantly less compared to Nepal. After residency, doctors make close to 350000$ yearly. The respect for the profession is very good, security is good and money is very good. I initially wanted to work in Nepal but US is damn too good to train as a physician with the work life balance and good lifestyle.

It’s primarily about achieving substantial earnings with minimal hassle. All the chatter and criticism are just words. In reality, most people want to accumulate significant wealth, which is often achievable by seeking opportunities abroad.
C’mon, who wouldn’t want to amass wealth and enjoy a stable lifestyle?
TLDR: Money .
The writer couldn’t crack in the US, and now he is in the UK because they are hoovering up doctors and nurses from 3rd world countries because they have heavily underinvested in their own doctors.
They invest 4crore to train just one doctor, why do that when you can get one from 3rd world countries for “free”. As the western age more, their care needs will grow. Expect max exodus of doctors and nurses from Nepal. I read somewhere that UK gov pays 30/40 Lakhs to recruit these people with 20K+ health personal they expect to get from Nepal, just imagine what % cut the politician got to sign the trade agreement.
Healthcare is fundamentally a Nobel profession, but we mustn’t forget, like all jobs they are first and foremost interested about their own wages. One example is when UK wanted to build its National Health Service, where they made all healthcare free for all their citizen, Doctors were against it because they feared they might be paid slightly less.
People saying they must be able to charge more, my relative had a Nero degenerative disease he spent 2 years in and out of hospital, his bill was north of 3crore. How much more should they have been able to squeeze out of him as he was wasting away?
We are fucked. Even if we train our doctors for free, they will ultimately leave. The pull is just too great. In the end we will circle back to Dhami Jhakri.

– I had my spelling wrong in my SalC certificate, had to lick every door for few days to fix it.
– I had my looking glass broken by an idiot on the parking, police charged me and next 5 mins another wanted to charge me again because he believes he has higher authority.
– I was beaten by police for doing absolutely nothing, just standing for a line.
– College had no drinking water most of the time and no water to wash my hands after playing basketball.
– every one lives to achieve authority over another so country men are mostly hollow and dishonest when it comes to actual work.
Everyone leaves this country. This country is manufactured as such that everyone is inspired it.
The thing is when you are young, full of energy you want to do good, you take risk, want to do something for your country. When you get old, married, have kids, you can’t always think about some abstract good. Either you be Dr KC or choose security, money. That’s reality.
because doctors are the set of people that are Nepali, where Nepali are the sets of people whose biggest achievement in life is to leave Nepal.
The question should be,”Why do everyone leave the country?”.

It’s all about money, and considering the substantial cost in terms of money, time, and hard work required to complete MBBS and MD degrees, the government should recognize this and provide medical professionals with competitive salaries, housing, and other allowances. In the USA, medical professionals earn significant incomes, with even nurses making close to $100,000. The Nepalese government should genuinely address this issue.

The fact is:
– They make more than any young/ almost established doctors during residency नै
– Instantly rich after successfully completing residency in 4 years with over/ around $200,000 per year.
अरु सबै कुरा भन्ने ले भन्ने र पढ्ने ले पढ्ने मात्र हो।
Government’s populist policy have set opd (and maybe other) pricing for private hospitals limiting earnings of hospital and doctors.
Let the market decide the value of doctors and medical industry. Let the hospital charge 5k for a consultancy if they want to. It’s government’s duty to provide affordable quality healthcare. Not private sector.
More doctor would stay if they could earn more. Docs would earn more if they could charge more for their services.

Sab doctor vagisake. The talent ones to US CAN AUS UK. And those average doctors who couldn’t crack their difficult exams to Dubai Qatar and even other Asian countries.
