Maybe it’s a new generational thing, how come I’m hearing lots of folks saying Dee referring to elder sisters. I like saying Didi. When did this change occur?

I use didi but i don’t have a didi.
Its a habit thing. You keep calling your elder sister didi for 10,15 years and suddenly one day you realize yo I can make it 1 syllable and just call di, which is same as didi. and much more easy to say.
Notice how daddy changes to daddy(hot emoji).
Generation is that matters…
I don’t think it’s a new generation thing bruh I am 27 years. I grew up saying Dee. I know other people also use to saying Dee when I was a child.
dee nuts
“tata” every newari guy prefer to call
Dai to ‘Da’ is worst. I heard someone call me this and cringed so hard, i can still feel the salt in my mouth.
I have been using Didi and Dee for 10+ years. I have been using it in a professional setting as well. No complaints so far.
only cringe people do that, “Da” is also cringe
Wait till you hear dijju and aaji.
Dijju
Have been saying Dee since I can remember.
I’ve heard as well and I don’t really like the word.
Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?
I say saibailai didi
I don’t show hate or disgust someone calling me deee but manmanai ‘chya’ chai huncha
(Maybe I am old…)
Hold my tea till the “Dijju Gang of so-called nefoli celebs, may be famounist” finds out about this post. I know I’ll get attacked for this comment.
sorry for my bad english.
These lazy kids thinking they are smart by saying di lol
Indian drama and fake social media shit had made you to do this.
They say Dai, Dada, Daa too
Didi is for general use, not pinpointed… I say di as a suffix to the name.. like Sita di, Rita di … but the issue I have is with dijju 😅
Dee vanda ni baba lai at some point baa vanna thaleko thye maile. Tyo baba nai vanna khojeko tara baa niskeko ho k lol
Talk smart, dont waste your breathe on 2 same sounding syllables.
Evolution of words ig
Ma dubai bhani rkahya hunchu, it also isnt because of influence of other languages
Dd bhanda dee bhanda sajilo huncha so tyo niskincha
Bistari maybe dee will be more popular?
It’s just the short form. I don’t think its a big deal. You can hear people saying “da” instead of “dai” too. Or “ba” instead of “baba”, “ma” instead of “ama”.
I say dee when idk what to call them and i dont actually consider them didi but when i say didi, its because they are didi.
My mom’s side is Newar and they’ve always used Dee for older sister. Mom’s close to 60 and her sister just past 60. I’ve heard it being used by other newars too. It’s not a new thing. Probably new to you.
Bahini to Bunu… don’t know when it changed.
I used to call my father baba but now ive started saying ba-aa
I only call my own sister dee. Other people who are elder sister I call them didi. I use Dee for my sister as it is easier to say when compared to Didi.
