Nepal’s Private Sector Facilitates Chinese Investment through MoU Signings

Next Gen and FNIC Ink Agreements with Chinese Companies MABC and Dongguan Jingliang Lighting at Nepal Investment Summit to Attract FDI

In a significant move to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) from China, two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the second day of the Third Investment Summit in Kathmandu. These MoUs pave the way for Nepal’s private sector to facilitate the entry of Chinese companies into the Nepali market.

The first MoU was signed between Next Gen Management Solutions Pvt Ltd, a Nepali company, and MABC Investment Pvt Ltd, a Chinese firm. Under this agreement, Next Gen will facilitate the parent company of MABC in bringing foreign investment to Nepal.

The second MoU was inked between the Federation of Nepalese Industry and Commerce (FNIC) and the China Dongguan Jingliang Lighting Product Company Ltd. Through this partnership, FNIC will assist the Chinese lighting company in exploring investment opportunities in Nepal.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, the Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, underscoring the significance of these agreements in strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

These MoUs mark a significant step towards fostering investment cooperation between Nepal and China, aligning with Nepal’s efforts to create a conducive environment for foreign investors. By leveraging the expertise and resources of the private sector, Nepal aims to attract Chinese companies across various sectors, thereby boosting economic growth and employment opportunities.

The Nepal Investment Summit, which has garnered participation from over 1,100 foreign attendees, primarily from neighboring countries like China and India, serves as a platform to showcase Nepal’s investment potential and highlight recent reforms to enhance the investment climate.

As Nepal continues to prioritize economic development and diversification, initiatives such as these MoU signings are expected to facilitate the entry of foreign companies, promote knowledge transfer, and foster long-term partnerships between Nepali and Chinese businesses.

The involvement of the Federation of Nepalese Industry and Commerce (FNIC) and companies like Next Gen Management Solutions Pvt Ltd underscores the pivotal role of the private sector in attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment, which is crucial for Nepal’s sustainable economic growth and development.
