In a significant development for Nepal’s economic and healthcare sectors, Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel of Karnali Province convened with Finance Minister Barshaman Pun to deliberate on crucial projects and budget allocations for the forthcoming fiscal year.
During the meeting, discussions centered on prioritizing key initiatives aimed at bolstering economic growth and addressing pressing healthcare needs within the province.
The rendezvous between the two officials underscores the government’s commitment to fostering collaboration between provinces and the central authority to drive progress and development across various sectors.
Furthermore, in a separate event held at the Finance Ministry, several notable agreements were inked, signifying enhanced cooperation between Nepal and China in critical areas of human resources development and healthcare.
Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary at the Finance Ministry, Dr. Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, and Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), were among the key signatories.
The agreement pertaining to human resources development aims to support global development initiatives, while the accord with the Health Ministry focuses on facilitating bone marrow transplant services—a vital healthcare intervention.
China’s commitment to aiding Nepal’s healthcare infrastructure was reiterated, with specific assistance pledged for the operation of bone marrow transplant services at BP Koirala Memorial Hospital.
Expressing gratitude for China’s steadfast support, Finance Minister Pun highlighted the enduring partnership between the two nations and emphasized the importance of implementing bilateral agreements in a timely manner.
Acknowledging China’s significant role in global investment, Minister Pun urged for increased collaboration and investment in Nepal, particularly in light of the ongoing international investment summit hosted by the country.
In response, Luo Zhaohui reaffirmed China’s commitment to Nepal’s development agenda and pledged to honor all agreements made during high-level visits between the two nations.
As Nepal prepares to host the Third International Investment Summit, Zhaohui expressed confidence in fostering greater economic cooperation and announced forthcoming Chinese investments in the country.
