Citizen Investment Trust Sees Profit Surge but EPS Dips in Q3 Report

Nepal's Leading Investment Company Reports Mixed Financial Performance, Driven by Interest and Commission Income Growth

Citizen Investment Trust (CIT), one of Nepal’s prominent investment companies, has released its third-quarter report for the current fiscal year, revealing a mixed financial performance. While the company’s net profit soared by an impressive 13 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, its earnings per share (EPS) unexpectedly declined.

According to the report, CIT’s net profit for the review period stood at a substantial Rs 882.4 million, a significant increase from Rs 777.9 million recorded in the same period last year. This surge in profitability can be attributed to a notable rise in interest and commission income during the quarter.

During the review period, CIT’s interest income climbed to Rs 353.2 million, while its commission income reached an impressive Rs 1.04 billion, indicating a robust performance in its core investment activities.

Despite the impressive profit growth, CIT’s EPS dipped to Rs 22.14, potentially raising concerns among investors. However, the company maintained a strong financial position, with a net worth per share of Rs 171.41.

CIT, with a paid-up capital of Rs 5.31 billion, boasts a substantial reserve fund of Rs 25.50 billion, highlighting its financial strength and resilience in the Nepali investment market.

The mixed financial results underscore the complexities and challenges faced by investment companies in Nepal, as they navigate through fluctuating market conditions and diverse investment portfolios. While the increase in profit suggests a positive trajectory for CIT’s operations, the decline in EPS may prompt the company to reassess its strategies and optimize its investment portfolio to enhance shareholder value.

As one of Nepal’s leading investment companies, CIT’s performance is closely watched by investors, analysts, and market participants. The company’s ability to maintain a balance between profitability, shareholder returns, and sustainable growth will be crucial in the coming quarters, as the Nepali investment landscape continues to evolve.
