Im just trying to be independent …..

I don’t understand why it’s such a bad thing that im working just cause i come a “rich” family. For context i come from a well off family , we are not super wealthy but we financially stable. Im still debating on whether to continue further studies overseas so instead of just lying around at home doin nothing I decided to pick up a 8hr shift job so i can earn my own pocket money and didn’t want to be so co-dependent on my parent’s money. And always i have decided to work i been asked by my co workers why im working when i can perfectly live off my parents.. and it not asked in a genuine question way but in a looked down kinda way if you get what im trynna say 😭 but anyways i don’t really get how it’s such a bad thing?!? Can some explain

  1. 1. Dont tell them/give impression that you’re rich. Welcome to “Paisa xaina” gang.
    2. Say often “ma sanga tah paisa nae xaina yr”
    3. make a fictional story “your parents have so much loan. He was betrayed and money was all lost and now so poor” make stroiesl like this and tell your friends then they will understand you’re poor too and make compassion and would ask you to work.
    4.

Its great that you like to work unlike most people these days who don’t like 9-5 job but they like to go to chowk take chiya and chuot and say ‘yo sansar ka kei hudaena, saba swaratha ko paxadi lagxan”

  2. You have a really good mindset. Dont listen those coworkers. I’ve been independent since I was 19 (5 years ago) and cant even imagine asking money from my parent anymore. Hustle and build something for yourself

  3. There is nothing wrong with being a contributing member of the society, on contrary it is what we should be doing. Wasting your parents money without doing anything productive is not living. You are doing great, keep it up.

  4. Counter question: Why are your stressed about what your co-worker are saying?? Also why are you talking about your family’s financial status with your colleague?? Its a big No No (basic work ethic).

Just ignore, you don’t have to answer their question or worry about what they say. You do you and be happy.

  5. working, having people to talk to really helps you get that community score for your mental health. Idle mind is a devil’s workshop. So, keep on doing what you are doing, plus never share how much money you guys have or the amount of property to anyone.

  6. I can relate.. I also comes from middle class which i think but my colleagues thinks i am rich because i have house in Kathmandu which worth 4,5 crore & money also comes from rent which is more than enough for family of 3 & also we get interest of fixed deposit from bank.. And yeah in future everything will be mine.
So basically it’s true that maile kaam nai nagareni paisa airako huncha..
Tara ma etikai basna ta sakdina ni.. Paisa aako ta ramro ho.. Tara ajhai kamaunu cha afule. Atma satusti bhanne ni huncha ni..baru thorai kamaula tara at least afno kharcha ta afule herna sakchu..
Aba maile job paisa kamaune kura nikalyo bhane saathi haru ko answer auncha.. Kina kamaunu paryo chupchap basera khanu ni.. Hami bhako bhaye moz garera basthem.
So aru ko kura nasunne chupchap afu lai j garna mann cha garne..

  7. Proud of you it’s a great mindset to have and you are definitely in a place where I wanna be in regards to mindset in myself don’t have much motivation to work or am scared to and am trying to build it and it feels bad to be lazy and demotivated not to earn my own money whereas you are already where I wanna be so don’t let these ppl discourage you!

  8. Because for many people it is a grind, every single day. For many, they HAVE to work whether they like it or not. If they stop working they have to start worrying. Going abroad is not even a dream for you, it is a reality, it is a easy choice. But for many, their dream is to not have to struggle day in day out. So if you can easily live their dream, why wouldn’t they call it out? It’s not about you, it’s about them and their struggles.

  9. You aren’t independent until you leave your parents house paying your own bills from housing (rent) to groceries and shit.
Just making your own pocket money doesn’t make you independent.

  10. I always say this when anyone talks about my parents’
land and property “I didn’t earn this, my parents did. I have nothing to my name so I need to be working” it helps that I’m overseas and it’s the norm here. Don’t care what they say, be proud of yourself and continue to do the right thing.

  11. Do you bro. And don’t let people’s perception and ideas about you shape how you move ahead in life.

For me my last name suggested I am Uber rich, but reality was different. And people always built perception around that last name and would interact with me from there, and it always put me in a headspace of scarcity (reverse casteism? Lol) it took a lot to not let myself be affected by it.

So, always do what keeps your heart filled. Fuck people! 🖖

  12. Nah girl. I have been in this same situation. No matter what who says, be independent. The coworker is just bitter. Either ignore them or give them superficial answers like ‘haha, ahh tara hernu na, padheko kei kaam ta laagnu paryo ni’ types. Dont engage any further with that person.
