  1. I wonder that sometimes as well. Recently I commented on a Indian page with something about mono and wrote “momos” since Indians find it familiar.

My friend saw that comment and was bashing me in the comment for not spelling it correctly.

  2. As far as I have seen its the Tibetans mostly complaining. They also claim that momo is absolutely not a nepali dish. I dont really know the origins of momo but they really are very defensive about it whenever momo is mentioned and nepali claim it to be a nepali dish.

  3. I may be under some hole. But I didn’t know this. Nor I’m offended by anyone calling is momos, mamas, dumplings or whatever. I call is momo or म:म sometimes as well. I feel as if I was inside some cave. People here are agreeing as if it is a normal and everyday thing.

    Is it??

  4. Bruh every Tom, Dick, and Harry, along with Sheilas I know irl fucking butcher pizzas(पिज्जा, stead of पित्सा), you don’t see angry Napolis coming over with their Tommy guns and their 🤌.

These momo gatekeepers are the same mfs that unironically think Momos are JUST as “Nepali” as jeri swari are akkha Nepalese dishes. Our entire bloody cuisine is on an active identity crisis rn.

  5. I don’t think people lose their mind as you are suggesting. It is akin to how people from other countries are also educating people on their culture as well, it isn’t exclusive to just Nepali people or even just food. There are countless Europeans making countless videos about how to pronounce car names when its just a car name and same for food as well.

  6. One side is calling it in English. Another side is calling it in devnagiri. Notice how it is’t spelled Momo but Mo:Mo: in Nepal. That changes the pronounciation into muh muh. Not mo mo.
