Travelling Rules

Travelling Rules

Hey everyone I’m coming back to Nepal next month from Canada I was wondering if anyone knows if I can carry 3 phones. One is for my personal use. The other two will be gifts for my family. I heard there were new rules with customs regarding the amount of items someone can bring from abroad.

Anyone have a better understanding of this rule?

  1. Lately alikati kada bhako hola niyam, tara you can take advantage of the chaos in the TIA airport to look a lot less suspicious. Here are my tips:

There are 2 main scanners at TIA. One is immediately after immigration, before the checked in luggage claim and one is after the luggage claim.

These are the tips for first checkpoint:

    1. Do not keep phones in checked-in luggage, they might take it out citing battery. Keep all of them with you (carry-on, school bag, etc, see point 2).
    1. Do not keep all of the cellphones in the same bag during the check. Put one in your pocket, one in your hand carry, one in your laptop / school bag. That way when it goes into the scanner, less chance of it being detected as of the same person.
    1. There is always a rush during the security scanner. Try to spread your tray in between multiple people. Put your hand carry with the phone first, let someone else put their stuff, and then put yours. Mix it up.
    1. Do not take phones in their original packaging. Or any packaging. Make it look like an ordinary cellphone, not a brand new fresh gift garne cellphone.
    1. Don’t act scared during the scanning, act normal, act surprised if they find it out anyhow. Prepare to give some excuse if they do ask, just in case they believe you. If nothing works, the last resort is just pay but preparing goes a long way.

Take advantage of the rush of the people doing the scanning.

If you successfully pass the first checkpoint, move all of the phones to your jacket, not even in your pants. Put it somewhere where it is not obvious that you are holding multiple phones in your clothing. Try not to keep them in your bag / carry on or checked in luggage. This is because in the second checkpoint, only luggage are checked.

    Good luck.
