Subtitle: Promoting Domestic Products, Empowering Nepali Entrepreneurs

Kathmandu, May 5: In a significant move to promote domestic products and empower local entrepreneurs, the 17th Nepal International Industrial Trade Fair-2024 is set to take place from May 8 to 12 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. Organized by the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI), this annual event aims to showcase the diverse range of products manufactured by micro, cottage, small, and women entrepreneurs across the country.

Umesh Prasad Singh, the president of FNCSI, emphasized the crucial role played by small households and small industries in driving Nepal’s economic development and prosperity. However, he acknowledged the challenges faced by these enterprises, including the use of traditional technology and capacity development constraints, which often hinder their competitiveness and profitability.

To address these challenges and foster knowledge-sharing and skill development, FNCSI has been organizing industrial exhibitions regularly at national, provincial, and district levels. This year’s trade fair, held under the slogan “Find Nepali, Choose Nepali and Let’s use Nepali goods, be proud of being Nepali,” aims to reflect the current situation of Nepali industries impacted by the economic recession following the Coronavirus pandemic and assist them in promoting their businesses.

The exhibition will feature a wide array of products from various sectors, including wood, stone, and metal art, ceramics, decorative items made from bamboo, carpets, pashmina items, and other woolen fabrics, products made from jute and other traditional processed natural fibers, the latest techniques, Nepali handmade paper, traditional handicraft items, organic honey, and agriculture and forestry-based products.

Entrepreneurs from all provinces and districts of Nepal, as well as appropriate technology users and participants from SAARC countries, including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, will take part in the exhibition.

President Singh revealed that the fair will feature 250 stalls, and it is expected to attract more than 200,000 visitors. Additionally, the event is projected to generate a financial turnover of over Rs. 70 million, providing a significant boost to the local economy and supporting the growth of Nepali businesses.

The 17th Nepal International Industrial Trade Fair-2024 underscores the country’s commitment to promoting domestic products, fostering entrepreneurship, and showcasing the diverse talents and skills of Nepali artisans and manufacturers on both national and international platforms.
