I’m attending a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat, and I want to make sure I’ve got everything I need . If you’ve been through this before, what are the must-have items to bring with me. How many pairs of clothes (t-shirts, trousers ) will I need? Do I also need mediation shawl? Are torchlight/umbrella really necessary?

Torchlight is not necessary but I saw a Lot of people with shawl. specially during group meditation.
A head about to explode with shit all around would be a good starter.
Jeez, I need to book one myself.
You need to have a shawl and extra pair of slippers/shoes, toiletry essentials. That would be enough I guess so
It might rain so carry umbrella so you can stroll alone even if its raining. Carry light blanket type incase you feel cold.
2 pair of clothes and a slipper is enough. You can take additional pair of clothes, umbrella, torchlight, shawl, soaps to wash clothes if you want. Here is a little advice- I dont know what grand expectations you have avout Vipassana medidatin. Drop all of them. You have to work there. Your overall experience depends on how much effort you put. I have seen people run away buy jumping from the wall. You can get absolute bliss or you can torture yourself. You must work hard if you want bliss and first few days are going to be tough. Best of luck.
