There was a teacher who used to take spelling test every week. She really had long nails. She would pinch us with it. If failed in test, she would make us go in front of class and order to take our shirt off. Only for boys though. We had only 3 students till class 2. One girl, two boy. She gave me a sticker once for doing good on test.
Looking back, it was indeed not a nice thing to do. There could have been better way of punishing us, or better way of teaching. I dont hold any grudge or dissatisfaction towards her though.
Teaching system was really bad in our country back then. Most of people still dont know how to teach properly. Even nowadays, the people who complain how they were taught slowly forget their past and transform to the kind of very person who used to teach them.
Looking back, I feel like the teachers used to shed off their frustrations to the pupils at school by giving the harshest of punishments such as ‘nangai banaune’, name calling, body shaming (calling names like kaley, motey etc.) Like most of you, I was in a strict school as well. I was in school hostel during grade 4 and 5. The punishment we used to receive were quite harsh. Consequently, I haven’t been able to forgive some of the teachers and I haven’t added them on FB. It was hard to find any teachers who wouldn’t beat their students. Hence, I don’t fancy visiting the schools that I went to.
Yes. One of my friends had to strip naked when we were in grade 4 in front of the whole class. She asked all the girls to close their eyes. She even took a picture of him in his underwear and I remember everyone laughing at him. The whole school knew about it. Even the principal and they also called his parents. Poor guy still studied in the same school until grade 10 but later dropped out of high school and went towards politics. I hope you’re doing well, Arjun.

Yes I remember our teachers used to make the boys strip off all the way. Nobody dared to complain about that to their parents or the administration. Although I was never on the receiving end (thank fuck), I do remember one time one of my friends forgot to do the homework and he voluntarily took off his clothes while sobbing in front of the whole class. That is easily one of the top three fucked up shit I’ve witnessed in my life.
Experiences like that scar you for life. I feel like I need therapy even after typing this but people need to know. Practices like this doesn’t happen anymore afaik, but who knows. Our children are still abused and bullied in schools not just by their peers but by the teachers as well. It just goes to show how ignorant our educators are. We as a society have a long way to go when it comes to child psychology. We haven’t had enough research. Many teachers and parents refuse to keep up with evolving social norms. We lack mental health awareness and so we fail to address specific needs of a child.
If you have children who go to school or know someone who do, please talk to them about type of punishments they receive in their schools. Make sure they are comfortable opening up to you before you ask them any direct questions.
I was in class 5 ani merai class ko yeuta keti ko dai who was senior than us did not do homework or something. The teacher brought that dai to our class where his younger sister studies and strip him naked.
I was so embarrassed for them. Like that must have changed their life. How can someone do that? Whenever I think of that incident, I feel really uncomfortable.

As far as I could remember, I once cheated my Mathematics Teacher pretending to submit homework which I never did. Unlucky me, I and my the then best friend got caught. Happened to me when I was in LKG… was probably 5 then. And the reason why I was given that ‘punishment’ was because I couldn’t pronounce the word, YELLOW. I kept saying ELLO. The teacher (I remember her name being something Dangol – not that her last name has anything to do with this story) got frustrated. Now, she started looking at our classwork/homework (which I apparently was lagging behind on) and decided to make an example out of me. She asked the ‘aaya didi’ to take my clothes off. All this was a foreign concept to me, including wearing an underwear (and me being a naive ~5 year old didn’t challenge or pushback) They made me do a lap around the school ground (with only a tie on). This whole thing didn’t hit me hard until much much later in my life and it still scars me a bit till date… More like makes me furious how an (supposedly mature and educated) adult is even capable of doing something so heinous and shameful. Jati sochyo, tyeti rish uthne. I hope I can confront and give her a piece of my mind some day if I ever find her.
let me tell you guys what punishments I & many of my friends had received back in school:
– most common punishment in our school was to kneel down outside of class & the teacher would come with a pipe and hit in our back & hands.
-one specific teacher was a literal jerk he used to come & punish all tall & dark-skinned guys as he thought they are the ones who always made noise. Also his signature punishment was to pinch your Nipples hard enough to make one cry. That felt horrible
– once we were asked to remain as chickens till 7:30 in the evening .
– once a teacher brought nettle plants ( he first hit with stick unit our palms swelled then rub with it).
– i remember i wore multiple layers inside the pant & kept two bulky handkerchiefs to reduce some pain.
– yes they do made us be naked, not fully. They got us semi naked so that there’s no cloth protecting from the beatings.
– slapping in cheek, pulling hairs was so common.

I remember, due to not doing homework some of the people were made naked including girls too . But we covered all our faces with books I think it was class 5 or 6. That teacher used to beat the shit out of us too. He used to randomly come at class in the tiffin break and check all our copy and beat us so hard with a stick it pained a lot. He was a relative of the principal so he wasn’t removed. He was I don’t know trying to get his frustration over us. GenZ here, but the older generation are way too f**k*d up. Can’t call that person a human and school inflicting such punishment already failed as an education system.

The other guys though… I still hear it… their cries and yells for help… Ive never seen someone yell so helplessly in their life as a kid being stripped naked in 4th grade. It felt so disheartening. The class monitor who held the boys for the teacher and the 4 boys who were stripped left school the next year.
They did nothing to the girls, not that I wish they did, and they still cry misogyny and whatever.

We used to have a classmate who was really dirty. Everyone knew he don’t take baths for months during winter. Ani he was from bajar area. Hami chai gaun ko. So 1 day we boys from gaun and one or two bajar guys made a plan to bath him tyo ni school mai. Nuhauna ta kapda kholnu paryo. So we were forcing him to remove his clothes. Some teachers somehow caught us. One of the guys was teacher’s son. And she taught us. In her class she called all of us and she tried to remove our dress. But was obviously unsuccessful. At last the teacher told that guy to not come school until he took a bath. We succeeded on what we tried.
