I am pretty aware that the NTA (Nepal Telecom Authority) requires phones with SIMs to be registered in MDMS to be officially authorized for use(calls/SMS). One of my friends, who lives abroad is selling me his phone. He claims that he got it on a plan and can get a new one as a replacement from his insurance provider in case it’s lost/stolen. He’s offering me 40% less than the market value for the product and he’s arriving in Nepal in a week. Would there be a problem in registering the phone to NTA’s system in case I purchase it? Is it a fair deal or am I missing something?
