Register Your Mobile Device in the MDMS System in Nepal

Register Your Mobile Device in the MDMS System in Nepal

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has been working on the Mobile Devices Management System (MDMS) in Nepal for a very long time. The MDMS is a system that keeps track of all the cellular devices that are imported into Nepal or are running on the network of any telecom company. This is done to keep track of all the devices that are using SIM cards on any Nepali telecom networks. The phrase ‘Nepali telecom network’ is key because roaming is not applicable to this as all international numbers are exempt.

If you are purchasing a smartphone in the Nepali market, if you are asking your friend to bring a new iPhone for you, or if you are bringing some smartphones for your family members while returning from abroad then it affects you. So there are a few things that you should be clear about.

Here are the steps on how to register your mobile device in the MDMS system:

  1. Go to the NTA website and click on the MDMS registration link.
  2. Enter your mobile device’s IMEI number.
  3. Enter your personal information, such as your name, email address, and contact number.
  4. Click on the submit button.

Your mobile device will be registered in the MDMS system within 24 hours.

Here are the import rules for mobile devices in Nepal:

  • All mobile devices must be imported through authorized channels.
  • All mobile devices must be accompanied by a valid import permit.
  • All mobile devices must be registered in the MDMS system.

If you import a mobile device without a valid import permit or without registering it in the MDMS system, you may be subject to a fine.

Here are the rules for gift mobile phones in Nepal:

  • Gift mobile phones are allowed to be imported into Nepal without a valid import permit.
  • However, gift mobile phones must be registered in the MDMS system.

Here are the rules for tourist phones in Nepal:

  • Tourists are allowed to bring one mobile phone into Nepal without a valid import permit.

If you have any questions about the MDMS system, you can contact the NTA customer service department.
