Multiple journalist from KTM Post and ekantipur have retweeted post alleging KMG of unpaid wage
[Journalists at Kantipur Daily @ekantipur_com
and The Kathmandu Post @kathmandupost
have not received their salaries for 97 days.Shouldn’t the Editors raise this issue with the management and inform them about the situation of the journalists?](https://twitter.com/KMG_Andolan/status/1727589691283878323)
In their latest [Newsletter](https://recordnepal.substack.com/p/off-the-record-117-the-ground-shakes), RecordNepal claims Sambhav Sirohiya, a recently apointed MD of KMG at the heart of current industrial dispute.
> [Much of the fracas seems to have arisen after Sambhav Sirohiya, the son of chairman Kailash Sirohiya, took over as managing director. Junior Sirohiya was earlier made CEO of the media house in 2017 when he was still in his early 20s. He was allegedly removed by his father barely a year later due to his combative attitude and the unwillingness of the senior editorial leadership to work with him. ](https://recordnepal.substack.com/p/off-the-record-117-the-ground-shakes)

Always support workers against Bad bosses. Today it’s them, next it will be us against the chopping block.
Another first-hand account from a Redditor oh his experience with KMG:
>This dude sucks doing business. I had first hand experience working in a company kantipur media had invested on years ago.
>
> The company I worked on, was one among at least a dozen startups kantipur media had invested on, and each were promised at least 1 to 2 crores of investment.
>
> As years went on, the company I was working on, didn’t even get to see the promised 2crores investment.
>
> Companies were not allowed to move to their own cheaper office space and save on rent.
>
> That’s right, they literally made the new businesses pay rent and deducted it from money they were supposed to invest on. They would also tell every single one of those businesses to hire interns instead of professionals.
>
> The money too didn’t came in once, but rather in some small amount in a month, and and large chunk was paid to themselves as rent, and the remaining amount wasn’t sufficient enough to hire skilled workers.
>
> This severely hindered potential growth of every single company operating under their umbrella. All of them went bust costing them god knows what [amount.](/r/Nepal/comments/18249hw/sambhav_sirohiya_infamous_for_his_hit_and_run/kagswz5/)
If we spend 1/100th the energy we spend on moaning about politician on improving our labour laws. Nepal would be a much more liveable place.
Good. Kantipur has a stranglehold on media in this country and it needs to be taken down. It is fast losing relevance and it is trying to do whatever it can to maintain itself. Kantipur even supported the whole tiktok ban. Their plan is to try to maintain their hold on media but they are going to fail.
Oceans rise, and empires fall. I hope it does.
