I doubt it. I have been in Nepal for a while and drive on my Indian license everywhere, so it should be vice versa but check with embassy. Indian police can be erratic so better to know your laws perfectly and follow all road guidelines.
Payincha afaik. At least it did when i went around 1.5 years ago. Once you rent the vehicle, there won’t be much hassle regarding licenses cuz rentals have different number plates and traffic police there usually ignore the rentals if there is any traffic checking, Im talking from personal experience. They might stop you though i cannot guarantee that but in my case I had no problems
