I’m in a bit of a tough spot and could use some advice. Two years ago, I lent a significant amount of money to someone with the understanding that it would be repaid within three months. I worked hard in the Gulf for three years to earn this 500K, and unfortunately, I haven’t seen a penny of it back.
The person I lent the money to claimed it was for their son’s migration to Australia, who is now already in Australia, and their daughter is currently in Japan. Every time I bring up the topic of repayment, they keep postponing, citing various reasons, and this has been going on for two years now.
I have a cheque, but I’m hesitant to go through the process of bouncing it, as it seems time-consuming, and my short stay at home, coupled with my responsibilities as a parent, makes it challenging to navigate the legal procedures.
The situation is really difficult for me because 500K is not a small amount, and it seems like the person is playing games. I’m not sure what my options are at this point. Ultimately, I might have no choice but to proceed with the cheque bounce, but I’m hoping someone can shed light on the process and provide guidance on how I can recover this money.

The person you lend money to has no intention of giving you the money back.
Unless you personally know some big politicians or Gunda, going the legal route is the only option.
You would already be seeing some of the money back if they intended to give you back. Also i don’t think you’re the only person they have loaned from.
Just bounce it
