  1. I’m 24. I’m an civil engineer by profession. I work in construction industry for a consulting firm. I graduated last year. Been working at the current firm for 7 months now. I get paid 30k. Been barely surviving in the valley. Barely any savings. Going with the flow myself as well. Parents have been asking me constantly (almost daily) to focus on loksewa. I get them, but my heart doesn’t go in it. In my current job, I’m forced to spend my majority of working hours at site. Site work never gets me kicking. Academics attracts me, rather. If it’s left to me, I wanna go abroad, do my masters, phd and work in some sort of researching position. But, I don’t see that happening, anytime soon. I don’t wanna quit my job (financial reasons- asking my parents for money, can’t do that. They’ve done enough for me already). I’ve been planning to do my masters in Nepal itself. But, the problem is the course I want to study (Structural engineering) is day course only. So, I’ll have to quit my current job for it.

  2. You are in a epitome of young/adult age and your salary is great for that age. Look for a side hustle. Maybe start with part time teaching if you can. Think of any business where you can use your brain and ask your parents to work like clothing retail business or even some agricultural business where you have minimal loss on failure. By that time you are thirty you can have at least 4/5 source of income and later choose 2-3 sources and buy your free time.
