When I was in highschool, I used to get 60 Rs per day. 20 for bus rides and 40 for food. Ohh the good times. Even that little money looked like so much. Me and my girlfriend at the time would pool the money and lunch together. Sometimes we would do the same with friends. 40 Rs could get us Samosa Tarkari or Buff Momo (really small and only 8 pieces I believe and I am confused if it was 40 but couldn’t have been more than 50).
That was the only allowance I ever had. Except that, I used to either save money from festivals or sometimes do work for people like writing content. Then when I entered high school phase, I was hired part time and I used to make a decent amount (300 per article) which was about 8000 per month. Enough in high school.
Bachelor’s was a different ball game. I had day college. So I had to convince the employer to give me split hours and weekend work. Also I was a bargain given my skills at the time. So soon college became morning and I quit my job, started another job from 11 – 7 while going to morning college. It was a hustle. But by the time I was in my 2nd year, I was able to pay my semester fee as well with some careful savings. As time went by salary Increased and by the time I graduated, I was netting around 1 per month.
If you really want to get things done – you will have to work your way around norms. Learn some stuff, advertise yourself, have some leverage. There is nothing impossible for something as simple as this item. Hard times are yet to come.
Allowance what’s that. I just save money whenever relatives come and leave.

Up until last year, my dad used to send money from time to time when I lived alone in a rented room. I don’t spend money too often so each month they’d be like “IF U NEED MONEY TELL US” and me going “I HAVE ENOUGH FOR THE NEXT 2 MONTHS”, unless it was college fees which would need a big deposit. I spent around 6-7k per month including groceries and transportation I think (excluding room rent which was 4k)

Reading the comments, I feel very bad for asking money from my parents. I stay away from home for studying. They give me around 30k a month.
No being harsh but by 20 you should know or have figured out how to manage the money.
If you’re done with high school and still need to ask your parents for allowance money then I am sorry but you need to get off your ass and work. Major expenses parents le cover garne can be understood because saving is tough but allowance for minor expenses? Please get some work if thats the case

In my case ultai mum dad lai Allowance dinu parxa because they cannot work anymore.
I am a ladykiller and been slaying left and right since I was 19. Having been born with big bone, masculine face, slightly taller height than average and knack at sweet talk, I have been able to rid the necessity to aggravate my parents by asking for allowance as I precociously learned to milk these god given traits – a genetic lottery and nothing else – to my advantage and have been living off of married women ever since. I know no other ways to lead this pathetic life of mine.

Bro what allowance??? 😂 I got like Rs.1000 to make it work for a week when I was doing my bachelors before that not that much. So, I used to save some of it and was even able to buy Jordan once. But that’s just me. TBH there is no allowance for most of us unless you are from a rich family.

When I was little I never got an allowance. I got the item I wanted with the allowance. My mom never said no to things I wanted *within reason*. Once I was 16, I got a part time job and spent how I wanted to and used it for dates.
