Hi everyone! I need your advice. Let me get straight to the point. I’m currently in the US and I earn enough to get by. Back when I was in school, I went to a government school in a village. You probably know what those schools are like in rural areas. Now that I can afford it, I’m thinking of donating Nrs. 25,000-50,000 every month. I want this money to really help the community. What do you think is the best way to use it?
1. I thought about hiring two teachers and giving them good pay to teach English, Maths, and Science. They would live in the village and help the kids.
2. Another idea I had was to give scholarships for +2 education to 3 or 4 students whose families can’t afford it.
How can I make the most out of this money? I’d rather not involve any big organizations. Are there better ways to spend this money?

2. Go with scholarship option. Why? It’s easy to monitor. Like you never know what the teacher might do. So,it not viable. You can do some post find the people who are good with studies but cannot afford. There are a lot of them. Then look at their marksheet and SEE grade and tell them that you will be paying theirs fees if they keep on maintaining certain grade on every terminal exams. The +2 fees might be in range of 5000-8000 depending where they study .So you could afford paying 5-7 of them and if they keep doing good the college later on might provide by itself. Btw, if you don’t mind what are you doing in US?

Once i make a decent money i am planning to sponcer street kids / kids from low income family for coading classes. Honestly school is over rated. I dont know about other people but 90% of what i learnt in class is knowledgeful but useless. I will never use it in my life. With coading, they will be able to do something with their life. I suggest you to find a good tutor and buy laptops for the kids.
When I was in school, our school had students from an organisation that took in orphans as well as kids form underprivileged families. A lot of the students were privately sponsored by foreigners, from school fees to their other needs. After passing grade 10 some of them even got adopted by their sponsors and went to live abroad. That sponsorship had a very big impact in their lives giving them the opportunities that they would have never got otherwise.
Well, you could also find a family that can’t afford to provide good education to their children and meet their needs and sponsor the kid’s need and education. If the family is happy with it then you can even admit the kid in boarding school in ktm or other cities with good schools. It might take a little more work finding a suitable family/kid than than giving scholarships to +12 students but definitely would be worth it.
You don’t know how happy I am to read this post. I hope more people will think like you do. Me myself, seeing the impact sponsorship had in my friend’s life, I too wanted to do that in future. I am still studying but one day for sure I will fulfill my dreams and help kids in need.
I work in the non-profit sector which has me traveling to rural areas. In many of such villages, there are no teachers, let alone skilled teachers. If you can help with hiring and paying a teacher, that would directly impact the whole cohort of students.
