There’s a saying that goes you get what you pay for. It basically means thing that can be bought for a very low price probably isn’t very good.
Some goods and services are definitely cheaper and better here in Nepal. For instance, dental works. I’ve seen many folks coming here just for such service. Even with the airfare, total cost apparently is considerably lower than in US & Europe. And some dental clinics have the latest machines and such.
Now, please tell us what goods/services cost more here that are expensive and are of inferior quality.

Its expensive because of taxes and bribes. But inferior quality is due to trade restrictions and bad govt policies. Only companies owned by Nepali people are allowed to import, FDI is very restricted, so there is a lot of middle men and trade is really inefficient. Since there are only few players, no one wants to take risk, and bring the cheap products which can be sold for high margins. If govt reduces red tape and allow small foreign investors, there will be a drastic reduction in price and increase in quality.

Its because the dentists dont cost as much. Almost everything service related or whose primary cost is in labor is cheap in nepal.
