to all pro monarchy redditors, what expectations do you have from monarchy if it gets re-established in Nepal?

to all pro monarchy redditors, what expectations do you have from monarchy if it gets re-established in Nepal?

मानौ नेपालमा राजतन्त्रको पुनर्गामान भयो; तपाइले नेपाल अर्को २० वर्ष पछि कस्तो हुन्छ भनेर कल्पना गर्नुभएको छ?

(Assume direct monarchy rule is re-established in Nepal. What is the difference you imagine between today’s situation and situation after 20 years under monarchy?)

make your answers as detailed as you want, explain for economical conditions, social and cultural conditions.

if you’re in favor of constitutional monarchy, answer accordingly.

  1. My views on this are simple. I was a really pro democracy, pro republic pro secularism guy. I thought that was what a majority of us wanted. But I didntt want to see prachanda as my ruler. I and my family have suffered tremendously thanks to the maoists during the insurgency. So i personally cannot accept that guy no matter what. I used to believe in our system before. I thought if he could just be voted out some how. And this time round it did happen. His party got a humiliating defeat and yet here we are. Guesss whos the PM. Thats when i relaised this system doesnt work.

It really is khasi ko tauko dekhaera kukur ko masu bechne system. We have been eating kukur ko masu thinking its khasi ko masu all along. It made me rethink my positions on everything. All those conspiracies about how secularism and removal of monarchy and all being removed by external influence stopped sounding like conspiracies. What could be done then. Could we vote and would it count. As i learned more about this system i realise the game was rigged. They made this entire system with themselves in their mind. No new party can just come and take over. This system will always favour older, richer political parties with strong organisation.

So i looked for alternatives and the most viable one was revision. We had to revert. Not to monarchy. But to constituent assembly. We need a direct vote to endorse all major changes. Monarchy. Secularism. Federalism. Representative vs directly elected head of state. All of it needs to be endorsed not by majority in parliament but by majority in a referendum. Of this, i can accept maybe referendum on federalism would be difficult as some regions wanting it like terai and eastern regions may fall into a minority yet federalism is a very regional thing to ask for. So maybe each state can chose if it wants to be a state or be administered centrally.

So in conclusion, its not because i think monarchy will be something of a game changer. For me its because monarchy and alot of other things in the constitution was removed without truly consulting the people. And i think a consultation is required.
