Hi there, myself and my girlfriend are about to do the ABC trek inc Poon Hill (10 days). We have been getting a few quotes for packages and just guide alone.
The packages seem to be coming in at $1100 USD for 2 people, food lodging buses and passes included.
We originally planned to just get the guide and pay for our own food etc, any recommendations? And does this price feel expensive?
Pic for attention!

Are you a foreigner?
I did the ABC trek via poon hill in 5 days. I spent like 15k, granted I am Nepali.
I would not get the package, for a lot of the money goes to the trekking agency. Get a guide, pay them $25-$30 a day and let them handle everything. For 10 days, you should look at around $7-800. I am getting this number like this: $800 is 106k NRS. You can allocate $300 for the guide.
This gives you $500, or 65000 nrs for 10 days. That comes to 3250 per day per person. If you’re eating dal bhat at night, and 2 meals off the menu, that should be ~2500/day for food based on menu prices (food gets more expensive as you go higher). That leaves 1000 each for your room. Rooms are much cheaper than 2000. A budget of 3250 per day will get you comfortably up and down the mountain.
Going with a guide and deciding your own itinerary allows you to move faster or slower depending on your need. If you’re moderately fit, you can complete this trek in 7-8 days. I wouldn’t push it any further if you want to have an enjoyable experience.
