Tiktok banned and public responses.

Tiktok banned and public responses.

It’s like a lot of folks are cruising through this TikTok ban without realizing that it’s not just about funny videos. Some are so tuned out, thinking it’s just about stopping a few cringe-worthy dances and live . I beleive there’s a bigger picture here, and our rights are right in the crosshairs.

I just went throught few comments in other platforms and majority of public seemed happy about banning of tiktok. They say ” why make a fuss on banning JUST an APPLICATION?”. I even saw many people celebrating this ban. People are chilling like this ban is a one-time thing. But here’s the scoop – it could be the start of a domino effect, where one app falls, and the others follow.

Ignorance might be bliss for now, but the wake-up call is coming. I am trying to remind everyone that this isn’t just about an app. It’s about our right to speak, express, and be ourselves. But it seems like some are shrugging it off, not catching on to the slow fade of our freedom. It’s slipping away, and we need to notice.

Spending a few hours on TikTok has become my go-to way to have a good time. I’ve found myself diving into a fascinating mix of travel vlogs, workout videos, and a blend of both informative and entertaining content. Am I just being too paranoid and obsessing in this matter ? I would love to have yours’ opinion in this matter.

  1. People who said that tiktok should be banned because of inappropriate contents basically outed themselves to consume such content on tiktok.
I had two accounts on tiktok, one of them was full of kpop and contents regarding social issues, while the other one had contents regarding my hobby and some pet videos. This shows that tiktok shows what you wanna see on your fyp. Sometimes there might be some issues but most of the time, it is your fault that your fyp consists of vulgar contents

  2. Those who are happy about this ban are non-users whose opinion is not valid. the other ones are people who use the app and are ill-informed and lack any digital literacy. they don’t understand that tiktok works on complex machine learning algorithm and each user’s experience is different from others. aafno feed ma ghar jhagada ko bisaya chhada video aayo re tei vayera ban garnuparcha re. lol!

i am as concerned as you. I am a tech-savvy person, I will always find a way to bypass this ban. but what about others? short form and fast flow of content is the new generation of the internet. globalization ko jamana ma these mfs are trying to push us back. kati le tiktok bata blockchain, deep learning ko barema sikdai thiyo hola, kasaile business idea sikirathyo hola, katile naya thau promote garirathyo. titkok batai thaha paayera mai gaye hola 4-5 thau jati ghumna laai.

from tiktok everybody had a voice. malpot ma karmachari le ghus magyo, tiktok ma upload garyo, ani aru social media ma pani aayo ani teslai karbahi hunthyo. facebook, youtube, Instagram bata short time ma information rapidly flow garauna possible nai chaina. tiktok is a global sensation for a reason.

what people don’t get is dancing, singing, and everything you label as “cringeworthy videos” are all freedom of expression. freedom of expression ra speech vaneko rajniti kaa upadesh chhatnu matra hoina.

the concern you have about domino effect is going to be real bro. the new social media bill says that government holds right to ban any social media which isn’t registered in nepal. facebook, google, kunai pani website sabai legally ban garna milne baato chai khuldai cha. wording pani yati vague cha ki aile hamile gareko kura lai liyera pani jail halna chai milcha.

  3. They thing government cares about savata lmao. “Banned in 27 countries it’s good” is what they think also laughs for this statement. They only know quarter truth or in this case lies. Tiktok is the fastest media rn. Everything could be manipulated but not tiktok. So government feared tiktok. Additionally Durga prasai emerging as a supporter of rajtantra is also why they disabled it. Tiktok has insane reach. Government could have banned vulgarity but instead they chose to band it as a whole cause they have a different agenda. Sooner people realise it the better.

  4. Why do nepali always have problem when someone enjoy their life by making cringe or funny video in tik tok. It’s always like we want to suck the enjoyment from other’s people lives and feel happy about it. I don’t use tik tok but i don’t even have any problem with people using tik tok. Social media ma dherai nai chadapan ra arajak ra misinformation cha, no one is denying it. Tesko lagi ta bidhek launu parne ho in IT, cyber law banauna sakcha government le or ministry decision bhata regulate garna adesh dina sakcha if they want to act fast, fact check garna sakcha, app company lai warning dina sakcha ani sangai problem solve garna sakcha. Social media ma sabai bhanda misinformation ra arajak Facebook ma hola ani ahile youtuber patrakar haru le jhan hamro samaj lai views ko naam ma extremism tira dhakeldai cha, tesko matlab aba youtube, facebook nai banda garne ho ta ani censorship ma basnu parne ho ta yetro ladera democracy layeko desh ma. Young generation lai bigaryo bhanera tik tok ban gareko chan, ani aba gaja lai legal garera gajari banaune plan ma cha yo sarkar.

  5. Well, it was simple tiktok wasn’t favouring big parties and their manipulating tactics from their 12 bhai patrakar and their bad works were gettting exposed. Prachande, kp oli, shere thinks that nepal sarkar, singha durbar tina haru ko bau ko sampati ho that is why they are afraid of their downfall. Tiktok le naya alternatives haru dekhai rakheko theye. Rise of rastrya swotantra party, balen shah were possible because of social media where tiktok played its important part. Nothing much just the government was getting exposed.

  6. Everyone who are in favour of government’s decision regarding the ban of tiktok are so intensely ill sensed and lack any knowledge about the fundamental rights we have and how this action of government directly attacks our freedom. To start with, our country is being regulated by a bunch of uneducated people who barely have any knowledge about anything or how to address or interfere in sensitive situation that comes up. Media plays such a major role in the sentiments of a society as it has come to be, banning platforms that provide people the freedom of speech is a huge step backwards. Anyone favouring this government decision isn’t even capable of handling personal interests or addressing their opinion or is able to contrast between what’s logical and not. Favouring decisions like these means supporting a government with people who themselves have no idea about how to run a country. These people are just there to misuse their power for their own benefit and for the power itself. And it is pretty depressing to learn this fact that our country is going downhill on such a rapid pace and what’s even more depressing is people not being able to see the bigger picture here and blindly following these sick uneducated morons and specially the youths who are educated enough to contemplate this situation in favour of the decision. I expected better from this country and it is getting difficult to breathe out here day by day seeing a basic right to life is getting snatched from people day by day right under their noses and people aren’t able to acknowledge it.
Everything has it cons, but you the have the freedom to choose how it impacts you.
The recent directive passed by the government is completely illogical to the point its so ridiculously embarrassing coming from a government, but what can we expect.
    People are buying it.
Come on this country can not be this dumb.
If this goes in this way, we might as well let north Korean government overtake our country lol!
How the fuck are people buying these narratives?
    It is so embarrassing!

  7. One step closer to dictatorship . Arko chunab dekhi prime minister term 6 barsha rakhey ra Parchandey 2 barsha, Oli 2 barsha ra Deuba 2 barsha Pradhan Mantri padh khadai basney ber laudainan.

  8. i dont care whether tiktok gets ban or not

negative aspects of tiktok was that kids were acting like adult wearing makeup and short dress ….kids must enjoy being kid

another was that big influencer were mostly people who had money already in their life and was was able to afford themselves rather than poor people…..so tiktok only helped those people who have money to earn more money

some tiktok influencer post vulgar things than youngster learned same thing and post same thing themselves

any people with phone started to post anything containing stranger face and putting odd caption… there is something called privacy u cant post stranger photo in your post without getting stranger permission

i saw people making video in accident scene rather than helping the injured people

  9. Well little did I argued on other post but I guess even I explain most of the people won’t try to understand because hey cognitive dissonance.

Indeed the government banned TikTok for their own hidden agenda which is not a good thing but at same time I’m glad it got banned given how their algorithm works and how those mindless scrolling bombard your brain with fake dopamine rush.

Please don’t come arguing with me that it depends on person, I was talking about people who weren’t aware enough. The one who are can easily gather the same content through any other platform.

Except for Marketing,TikTok is a beast when it comes to marketing, no any other apps comes close to it.

  10. Its not only your but a means of timepass for a lot of people and banning it might seem unfair to people like you but i encourage you to look at the bigger picture if people stopped wasting hours of their day as “timepass” and did something productive then something might change and the change might be positive, while I understand banning apps isn’t the solution for making people stop their counter productive ways of going about their life but their is more to it like the relations of the bytedance inc and other investors of TikTok and how they “share” data with the ccp and why many other countries banned tiktok cause of said relations

  11. Tei bhanya. Manche haru pani achamma cha yar. Afulai man chaina bhane na chalaunu ni aru le j sukei garos. Hijo ekchin Random Nepali ko podcast herya the ani tya yei aba lyauna lako IT bill ko kura thyo. Ani tyesma chai Gov lai kei kura chitta na bujekei bhar ma pani arrest garna milne kura haru cha re. Arko kura the way gov is constantly saying tiktok le samaj bigaryo is too much. Samaj ta inharu le bigareka chan. Inharu ko kanda haru ko audio leak easily viral hune source nei tiktok bhako thyo ani banned nei gardiye. Aru pani social media cha but Tiktok jasto easy UI chaina. Tyati social media chalauna na janne le pani majale tiktok kholera khali scroll gardei herna milcha. Aba aadalat ma 11 ota rit pareko cha yesko biruddha ma. 9 gate cha peski let’s see k huncha. Kunei proper aadhar binei baaned gareko le fiirta aaune chance dherei cha bhanthiye. Aba gov ko plan nei yei ho bhane manche tiktok pachi fb, youtube ma janchan feri ani k tyo pani banned garne plan cha? Hawa haru.

  12. Tiktok, instagram reels and youtube shorts are designed in such a way that it makes you keep swiping that app for hours and hours .Jumping from one content to another within 15 sec ,it really affects our mental health. That endless scrolling is like an addiction. And i feel like banning tiktok was right thing( Just my opinion) . I also used to watch tiktok for hours and hours and when i realized its repercussion i totally stopped it and it does make me feel good.

  13. I wrote about this [here on my substack](https://herojig.substack.com/p/tiktok-banned-in-nepal), saying that this ban is for the better. I don’t want my little Nepali nieces and nephews continuously scrolling through that muck with no controls whatsoever. That’s insane. If parents were more responsible (the poor souls, they have so much on their plates ***already***, without this), and some controls worked in keeping those from seeing age-inappropriate content, then something short of a ban would be ethical and maybe prudent. But seriously, folks, there are better places to get what you want, and not controlled by the CCP.

  14. Democracy, my ass. So glad to be never have lived my majority of life in Nepal. I love the people but dont know how these millennials think- fucking up all tge time gor the new generations. They banned democracy.
