Nepali Businessman Sharma Appointed as Kyrgyzstan’s Honorary Consul

In a move to strengthen economic ties between Nepal and Kyrgyzstan, Ramesh Sharma, the Secretary General of the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul General of Kyrgyzstan to Nepal. The flag hosting and inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Non-residential Ambassador to Nepal, Askar Beshimov.

Sharma, who is also the chair of Sharma and Company, a prominent construction company in Nepal, assumed this diplomatic role with the aim of enhancing and strengthening the bilateral economic relations between the two countries. The Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) expressed confidence that Sharma’s appointment and the establishment of the Honorary Consulate office in Nepal would foster greater economic cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked country surrounded by China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, gained independence in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The country is endowed with rich natural resources, including hydropower, gold, rare earth metals, coal, oil, and natural gas, offering potential opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.

With this new appointment, Sharma is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating business collaborations, promoting investment opportunities, and exploring avenues for economic growth between Nepal and Kyrgyzstan. The establishment of the Honorary Consulate office in Nepal is anticipated to serve as a bridge, fostering stronger economic and commercial ties between the two nations.

As the Honorary Consul General, Sharma will work closely with Kyrgyz and Nepali authorities, business communities, and stakeholders to identify areas of mutual interest and facilitate a conducive environment for trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
