Now adays when ride sharing is preferred almost all of us have only one name in mind thats PATHAO
in my knowledge tootle was the first ride sharing launched in Nepal. Is it just because it is Nepali brand, it is being ignored or any other reason for its downfall?

it is because, suru ma it was good ani competition ni ramro thyo but later tootle ko map haru ramro sanga accurate bhayena like pathao ani slowly manche haru le tootle service use garna chode and start using pathao which is more convinent than tootle. There features, rewards, offer are far better than tootle. And marketing level are more effective too. So, big investment of pathao ko karan le garda tootle fail to get good image among nepali. But feri re establish gareko chha tootle le, hope this time they have luck and get good reputation.
What about indrive? I think it’s a bit cheaper
Tootle spent too much time on PR and internet clout rather than actually upgrading their product. We only came to know who was behind pathao during lockdown.
Tootle had major problem with maps. they used open street map i guess. pathao entered market with less commission and comparatively cheaper price and continiously added food delivery, taxis and loyality programs (cashbacks). tootle only had ridesharing.
Tootle was an internet company but operated like traditional company. i.e. visiting their own office for training, rider to signup manually and physially, wait for training etc. Patho still has this problem but had resources to conduct multiple classes through out the day.
Indriver quickly manage to capture market because it was easy to signup for drivers. and outside valley indriver has major market share. patho is like non-existent.
I switched to pathao from tootle because their service started to downgrade. I also heard tootle wasn’t able to pay its employees.
It was indeed the first one and used by many. When competition came, it took a nose dive. Their service got worse, app was simply unusable. Also, their late entrance to taxi service, played a vital role.
Now, it has been acquired(?) by Zapp. Hopefully, it will do good.
I use Indriver since it is cheaper than Pathao. I think Indriver is more popular than Pathao these days.
I remember coming back in 2019 and downloading both Tootle and Pathao. I think they were having an issue with Taxi Syndicate at the time. I had to travel from point A to point B at a distance of 10km. First I tried Tootle, and the rider it showed was about 7km away in the direction of point B. At 9 am in the morning, Tootle couldn’t have reached me and taken me to point B in time. Then I tried Pathao, rider was only 1km away. I was quickly picked up and dropped off at point B. That was the only time I tried to use Tootle.
This also reminds me of the time before the pandemic when I tried ordering from Bhoj Deals. A lot of places in Kathmandu were not covered by these apps back then. I placed the order, and they asked me to pick it up at the market a couple of kilometers away from my home. I just said, “I do not need your service if I am already getting out of the house and to the location you say, won’t I just go to a restaurant if I am traveling that much.” They just cut the call. The reason I uninstalled and never reinstalled Bhoj Deals.
Maybe this is the running theme with Nepalese service apps.
Tootles app had alot of glitches and crashed every time i searched for a ride i waited for them to fix those issues in update but nothing was fixed . Aani jhyau lagera delete gardiye
Tootle didn’t updated their app immediately to fix bugs.. So many started downloading pathao.
Pathao does not even allow you to choose your driver. In-driver lets you choose your driver (based on their rating, distance, price)… Surprised pathao is still popular unless they’ve adopted “in-driver’s” concept of letting you choose your own driver.
