Made friends with a white guy - rest of the company boycott me

I don’t get along with most of my Nepali and Indian co-workers. They’re not process-oriented. Indians (*remotely working*) are hardworking but very directional – will only do how much they’re told. Nepalis (*remotely too: we don’t have a KTM office*) can think out of the box but lazy and afraid to go out of their comfort zone.

Then there was this white guy, from eastern Europe. Didn’t like him at first — too cocky and prescriptive. Slowly started working with him in his department and found him to be extremely hardworking, understanding and for surprising reasons – we shared the wavelength.

I didn’t like him at first but now the others are treating me like I am his “camcha” and tease me with mimicking European accent. I’ve become boycott and not included in events or activities. I wouldn’t even know they’re meeting up in Thamel the following evening.

Not something I’m comfortable sharing with Nepali teammates. What should I do for the fear of being boycott?

  1. U weren’t getting along with the others anyway so it shouldn’t bother u what they think about you at this point. Calling people names just for being friends with someone is dumb. Tell them to grow up.

  2. Fuck them (not literally tho). You don’t need to please those twats.

The Whites consider them (Eastern Europeans) to be Slavs (which they are), thus not full white.

I love Eastern Europe, their Brutalist architecture (Blood ,flesh and Concrete), Slavic Culture and their Communist History (not a commie tho). There was a Belarusian Band with Brutalist posters that I used to play sometines, weird but strangely beautiful random songs ( Молчат Дома).

Eastern Europeans have a lived a harder life than most Western Europeans, and are much closer to us than them in terms of living standard and cultural emphasis. The Berlin Wall did its job.

  3. You are not close with your Nepali or Indian co-worker so I don’t know why they should include you in their activities( I am assuming the activities are not work related) but calling you names is such a childish move.

  4. It’s work so maintain your professionalism. I’m sure you have goals and this work is leading you up to that. Keep your focus and don’t let toxic behaviour pull you down.

  5. If you didn’t get along with your Nepali indian co workers then why are you complaining about being not part of their circle.

You want dubai haat ma laddu, you want to distance yourself from them but at the same time you want them to uphold their share of relationship with you.
