Where are you from primarily? I am from Far-West and its awesome you are exploring.
I recently took a road trip upto Dhangadhi. Here are some tips:
1. Start early. If you are getting out of Kathmandu, eat some pre-breakfast snacks. By the time you reach Malekhu, you will be hungry. Malekhu has some great places for breakfast. Once done, make Narayanghat your lunch stop. There are many great local places to have Nepali Food.
2. Don’t overdo it. The road from Narayanghat to Butwal is pretty bad until you reach Sunawal. Its dusty and with plenty of diversions. Gotta be careful. I would recommend resting at Butwal the first day.
3. From Butwal its pretty straight forward. Make a target to reach Nepalgunj and avoid traveling at night through Bardiya. We witnessed some bad accidents during our road trip around Thakur Baba Dham.
4. If you begin early and move from Nepalgunj on the 3rd day, Chisapani will be a couple of hours away – the gateway to Far West. It is so beautiful. Don’t leave without soaking in the beauty.
5. From then on, Mahendranagar is pretty close. So have an estimation of reaching your destination on day 3.
Get some padded seats, and have good gear on because man thats a long one. And so much respect for wanting to do this. I could never imagine riding so far. The most I have done is Kathmandu-Pokhara and Kathmandu-Narayanghat on a two wheeler. All the best and make sure you keep us involved in your journey. God speed.
Hey, sounds intresting. Can we have a conversation?
