  1. The girl from Kathmandu by Cam Simpson.
Context- early 2000’s some Nepali men were abducted and k***ed by hostile forces in the Middle East( think, it was during the Iraq War era) The wife of one of the victims goes on to wage a lawsuit against a powerful conglomerate who were responsible for the mishap. It opened my eyes on the global labour supply chains & how the promise of a better life leads to men/women from south asia to fall prey to systems that couldn’t care less about their well-being. Human life is treated like a commodity under such unfair hyper-capitalisation of labour.

  2. Might be cliché tara Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari blew my mind when I first read it. Tesko content ta ramro vaihalyo but the idea to see the whole of humanity from a third-person perspective was such a refreshing take.

How about our own Nepali hero? 🇳🇵

This book of Sanduk Ruit’s biography was inspiring. This covers so much part of what many Nepali have to face. From intercaste marriage to struggling abroad, sibling issues, and the toughest path to success. This has it all.

Also, broken down into many chapters, this book is a fast read. There should also be a translation in Nepali.

  4. Karna Shakya’s books. “Soch” was my first read, I had read it when I was in grade 9 or 10 & was full of negative ‘energy’. Felt much positive after the read.

  5. Three volunteers and the new earth, Dolores canon.. My big theory of everything.

These books were massive to my self understanding about this reality. I used to have strange visions or memories of a being before this life. It came down to the beautiful awakening of all the confusion. Not for casual readers.
