Not to be crude, but protesting has never led to anything but a few minutes of fame. If you are fed up, you need to interact with policymakers constantly. There are only few power centres who can bring changes, local govt, federal govt or the judicial system. Protest gets attention for none of these. For a common citizen, NGO is the best place to start, good ones have policies that can be implemented for short term and long term. My friend works in KEEP Nepal, Im not sure how effective their organisation is, but they are doing much more than protesting. You can search for NGO which aligns your interests, you can find like minded people and better roadmap.
Vehicular pollution is quite hard to tackle at policy level, considering government doesn’t invest a dime on infrastructure and no power centre is willing to increase fare or put tolls on road. If the road for Kathmandu Terai was in private partnership, the road would have been built by now, it could be more expensive but would have saved billions of dollars and lower pollution over the years. But because of “Desh Bechyo” mentality, its in limbo.
If you ban those polluting buses, tickets will get expensive, which will be more unpopular than “living in gas chamber”. Its funny that despite our electricity is less polluting(hydro) , 80% of our energy needs are met with non renewable resources because we have no trains or other electric mode of commercial transport. If we start working now, things will start getting better five years from now, so I don’t think you should waste your energy in another stupid protest with no direction.
Yup ani bato ma bina mask hidera farkida naak bata kalo tar niklinu is mendatory.
