Hi.
We are looking to help our Sherpa guide with whom we formed a good friendship with and stayed with when we were in Nepal by sponsoring his children to go to a good secondary school.
What is the rough cost for boarding and tuition in a secondary school pls?
Thanks.

Depends where you want to send them to school.
Rule of thumb is
big cities, good education, costly
Small cities, average education, affordable.
Villages government schools, shit education, cheap af
My guess is you are in Solukhumbu. So, I guess 1K – 1.5 $ is more that enough for 2 years in high school i.e. grade 11 and 12 (Ofc it is for private school with all fees as government school is not that great)
Rough estimate is 600-800$ covers 1 year in a decent boarding school for any grade in Solukhumbu or whole province no. 1.
for expensive cities like Kathmandu 5000-6000 dollars will be sufficient for hostel and fees in relatively decent schools this is only for grade 11 and 12 in science faculty.
for grade 9 and 10, 3000 dollars will be sufficient.
For boarding high school in Kathmandu, the cost for one month will be around NPR 20k-30k with around 5k for extra stuff, so in a year that’s around 2000 usd per person for a year. I studied one year in boarding school so I am saying this as a rough estimate, I am sure I am not that far off.
Is it only tution fee? If yes then rough 1000-2000 per year depending on the high school. There are some fancy school which will cost you more.
If you are paying for living expenses as well then will cost more.
if you are looking for high end private schools. 20k+ monthly defo in ktm
