This incident is about service man who visited my home to repair washing machine.
I have brought Colors brand washing machine around a year back. It was showing few problems and suddenly stopped working. That machine is under warranty period (2 years full warranty) and I reported problem to service center.
When service man came and inspected machine and said that damage was due to mouse that got inside machine who chewed up and messed wires. That was beyond warranty coverage and gave quotation of around 20k for repair.
New washing machine cost 50k and 20k for repair didn’t look feasible for me to repair right away. And I said that I don’t want to repair it. After that they called their office and that office called back me to pay their travelling expense and lunch expense.
I was not sure if I should pay or not. The manager asked me to pay Rs 500 to him for service man’s expense. To reassure myself I asked for quotation bill (didn’t want to pay right away. Felt suspicious). But they sent me photo of bill with quotation of Rs 800 and their fonepay QR. I have not paid them yet and they are calling me in abusing tone to pay them that fee.
Do I really pay their travelling expense and lunch expense if damage is beyond warranty coverage? This is exact reason what that manager told me.
