Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant has always been the one for providing value for money products. The legacy goes on with its new tablet, Xiaomi Pad 5 with Snapdragon 860 at the core. Coming with an 11 inch 120Hz IPS panel, this tablet is throwing some serious competition to other tablets of the same & even higher price ranged tabs. Here’s our Xiaomi Pad 5 Review.
What’s in The Box?
- Xiaomi Pad 5 itself
- A 22.5W Fast Charger
- Product Manual
Note:- There is no stylus, keyboard, or mouse in the box. The rest of the equipment needs to be purchased separately.
Design & Build Quality
Xiaomi Pad 5 boasts a rectangular design with a glass front & aluminum chassis all around the body. It is covered by matte plastic at the back. The Android tab weighs 511 grams. There is a camera bump at the back housing the 13 MP camera. On the bottom, there is a USB Type-C port, mic & two speakers grills. On the front side, the bezels are very thin & a selfie camera is on the top at the center. The back however attracts a lot of fingerprints in my usage. I found the build quality to be strong and sturdy. It doesn’t feel too heavy with two hands usage. I wish Xiaomi could have provided a back case. Overall, it seems like a premium offering with the strong build quality.
The Fluent 120Hz 10 Bit Display
The Pad 5 is no bummer when it comes to displaying quality & smoothness. Even being an IPS LCD panel, the color looks vibrant & punchy enough, thanks to the 10 Bit panel. It shines the best with HDR 60 content on YouTube. Similarly, the 120Hz smoothness amazed me with fluentness while scrolling, playing games, or normal usage. I wish the refresh rate was an adaptive one but it’s static. Still, the display of this tab has to be the best part. And another thing, the IPS panel performs too well, similar to an AMOLED panel on Pad 5. If you’re concerned about the display quality, this tab from Xiaomi will delight you for sure.
SD860 Performance & Multitasking
The USP of this tab is the silicon powering its core, the Snapdragon 860 chipset. This silicon is a no-brainer when it comes to day-to-day usage, multitasking, and gaming performance. Everything feels snappy and smooth, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate along with the chipset. MIUI 12.5 running on top of Android 11 is a charm on this tablet. While I did notice minor UI lags once or twice. The MIUI skin is peculiarly not that perfect. The 6GB RAM on this tab does its job well but opening up too many apps might be that great. Background app killing is strong on MIUI skin as expected.
Writing notes, articles with this bigger screen is an absolute delight. Also, the multimedia experience excels with quad stereo speakers. The audio quality is crisp and clear. Watching movies on this tab provides a wonderful experience. Editing photos & video rendering were also swift in operation. The performance might not be the fastest, but the SD860 can still thrive without a doubt.
Big screen means a wider area to place all of your necessary controls for action-packed multi-player games like PUBG & CODM. I played PUBG on this tab on both TDM & Classic Modes. No surprise, the SD860 assisted by a wider display was all good to go for engaging against enemies. As I’m a three-finger player, the gaming experience was just too good. Also on CODM, the multi-player (TDM
