Will I be eligible for the bonus declared if I buy the shares just one day before the book close?

I was wondering if I will be eligible for the bonus declared if I buy the shares just one day before the book close date. For eg. the book close date of LEMF (Laxmi Equity Fund) is tomorrow i.e Shrawan 15 for 35% dividend. So if i bought the shares today will I be eligible for the bonus even though the shares will come in my demat only after 2 or 3 days of the book close date.

Yes but let me share you a very bad experience. In 2016 laxmi value fund was giving around 25% dividend so I bought them at 16 rs per unit. I thought that dividend amount would be too good at that price.

What I didn’t know was how fast the per unit price of the mutual fund decreases after their book close. After a couple of days the units were back to 12,13 per unit and after a week it was around 10. And good luck selling those units within a week as you won’t even receive those shares for a couple of days.

So even though I earned 25% dividend I incurred heavy loss due to decrease in unit price. So be careful before investing in mutual funds for their dividend.
