Wearing Camouflage in Nepal

Wearing Camouflage in Nepal

I’m planning to visit Nepal soon and I want to make sure that I’m respectful of local sensitivities. My rucksack and some of my clothes are camouflage coloured and I want to know if it is acceptable to wear this in public in Nepal. The camouflage in question looks very different to Nepali military patterns. I don’t look like a member of a military and I would never try to represent myself as such, nor would I ever wear full camouflage. But I know that people in some countries have strong views on the acceptability of wearing any camouflage as a civilian. I don’t wish to cross a line or make anyone feel uncomfortable, so I’d like to hear some local Nepali perspectives on whether this might be an issue or not.

Thank you!

  1. I think pahile ek choti chahi niyam aako thyo lagyo, civilian haru ley army ko jasto lookalike pani launa napaune khalko tara katti ko authentic ho idk.
Tara pahile ko comparison ma army dressup is down huna ta time anusar ko fashion market ma aayera ni hola.

  2. Could have been an issue 15 years ago during the civil war but it doesn’t matter anymore. A friend of mine was apprehended in 2004 for wearing a camo jacket in his morning run by the military. That’s not the case right now. Nobody cares.

  3. we have actual british militaria personals walking around manbhawan(hedquaters of british gurkhas is located here) with their actual dresses on around that area, so i think it’s fine

  4. wear anything you want bro , just don’t say namaste every time you meet someone, it’s so annoying nowadays because we don’t say namaste that often too.just say Dai, Vai (brother) or Didi, baini ( sister) , do you know this , do you know that…
