I had mild attack and it was hard to breathe for me like 4-5 months ago and the doctor gave me inhaler used by asthma patients(Not sure if its same but looks and works exactly the same). He said it works as a cough syrup too and can use anytime i had cough. I frequently get common cold and coughs. Can i use it? It works btw but some say its not good to use it.

Yeah if the cough is non infective and allergic inhalers can have a role. Depends on what kind of cough you have and what kind of inhailer was given. If it was an actual doctor maybe he has a rationale behind it. You should ask this questions to who prescribed the stuff and clarify your doubts
