I’m travelling to Nepal in a few months for the first time in years and will be going solo. I hold a dual citizenship and was born abroad but will be travelling with my Nepali passport. To avoid suspicion I hold a dual citizenship (since it’s illegal). What question do customs officers typically ask you during arrival/ departure?
Do they try to catch you out? Etc.

So when you arrive and show your Nepali passport, you pass through the arrival gates as-is. They may ask you for your boarding pass and then stamp the arrival record in your passport and then you should be good.
It’s not illegal if they don’t catch you.
Nepal did not have dual citizenship law until recently. What you have is probably a passport from before this law was passed. I would not suggest using nepali passport for this visit. Use your other passport and pay your visa fee. Make sure you bring your previous citizenship along with your passport (i.e. nepali citizenship and passport). Visit your local office where you originally got your nepali citizenship from and fill out some forms, and get a new citizenship (nrn citizenship let’s call it that; gives you all the rights except political and voting).
Why use foreign passport you ask: when you go back to the other country that you are a citizen of, they will probably look for a stamp for arrival at another country and departure from the said country (in this case Nepal)
