So I have been reading tons of book since 7 months and I am glad that I have learned so many things. I have noticed myself that I have become more observing , silent ,and emotionally clam. Am I in the process of rewiring my thought process or living in a delusion.

If you read non fictional, how to, self books… quantity or quality wise, you perspective shifts.You can read one good book 100s of times until it is ingrained in your mind and behavior or you can read 100s of similar books/similar topics and you’ll have these thoughts, lessons perspective in your mind whether consciously or subconsciously which will influence your behavior and though process.
Best would be to be pro-active, take a good book, read, takes notes, apply lessons, practice, adjust, adapt it your life.
Reading one book time and time again gives you more insights and you learn more lessons each time, you understanding deepens.

2. In a sense it does. Reading a book requires patience, it’s very quiet and calming and can sort of be used as therapy and of course gives you knowledge. Increases vocabulary and ability to write what you think to the maximum, because imo everyone’s capable of thinking to the max, but they just can’t write what they think.
3. It makes you better as a person, and gives you new perspectives on things that you’ve never thought about. You use your brain more, and question more. And questioning is the key to everything.
However obviously it will never increase your actual intellect. That’s a 100%. It will just cause you to have mental benefits that allow you to use your intellect better.
That’s when we talk about books that are beneficial.
The non beneficial entertainment books give you new vocabulary and the same mental benefits, just doesn’t give you a new perspective of things you haven’t seen before.
Plus in a world full of essays and debates, books will ALWAYS be beneficial in that side of things. If you’re a mathematician or something like that, books don’t make you better at it except train your patience and brain usage
To be an intellectual, it really depends on the books you read. History, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology would have a better claim at making you an intellectual compared to fictions (which have their own merits)
But my conclusion is this:
Do reading books make you an intellectual? Yes, depending on the type of book you read.
Are books the only way to be intellectual? No. With the internet you have a vast amount of knowledge available to in all sorts of forms.

My perspective towards life has become more positive I believe. So yes books have helped me a lot to grow mentally and I am really grateful for that.
I think books especially self help books are probably the best way for self growth and yah it may very well help you grow intellectually depending upon what sort of books you read and how you take in the knowledge you gained.
Yes, it does, but it is important to know when to use the knowledge you gained as a result of it. Like some might become very badly PROUD like “ghamandi” (tyo word nai aayena english ko) khale while others might become more observing as you said. Also, when you quote something you read on a bool in a conversation with a friend or anyone, that’s literally sounds and feels so nice. It makes you look smart.

It’s not about reading books. It’s about applying the ideas gained from books which store them. Reading books is just vocabulary like someone else said. And hell, Mein Kampf is a book as well.
