The salary is fixed for Government doctors and even medical colleges KO Doctors haru ko, so asking for tests and prescribing medicine to you is always for your benefit only. People think ki test garayo anii Mahango Medicine chalayo Saab Afu le extra kamauna laagi. But the reality is hospitals earn a lot but by that doctors or aru staff are not benefited. Attacking doctors or staff is not the solution to the problem but Having hospitals with the proper number of doctors and nurses is. Getting a safe and secure work environment is everyone’s right.

“Instead of giving them security ” re, this is the main issue facing Doctors right now and in many cases it doesn’t matter if Doctors counselled the patients well (eg. In Lamjung District hospital Doctor tried to counsel wodadaksya well about his patient but the Doctor was beaten anyway), there are many such cases too.
We have NMC guidelines on how to treat a patient but you can’t make a law to regulate behavior of individual person because it will never be implemented and who will monitor them??
You can’t lump all or vast majority of Doctors by saying they are all mannerless based on your personal anecdotes. Of course some Doctors are bad and don’t know how to speak to patients or get irritated easily. In Govt hospitals, a Doctor has to care for hundreds of patients esp residents and Medical officers and that causes stress as well. Due to syndicate, there are only 1500 Govt Doctors in Nepal when we have over 30 thousand registered in Nepal medical Council, Nepal govt doesn’t really care. Another problem is that just like Govt teachers and karmacharis, it is almost impossible to remove a Govt Doctor from post if he or she has done something wrong…that’s the system which does need to change but it needs to be applied to every Govt employee.
One major problem these days is you have a group of people who have nothing to do with any patients and they look for hospitals where such incidents have occurred and what they do is ask hospital for money (aka extortion) and if it isn’t provided then they destroy Hospital property. Unfortunately some hospitals did give in previously and that has caused more problems.
Lastly, this is a very complicated issue but the situation right now is untenable. A lot of young Doctors (who bear the brunt of physical attacks compared to senior Doctors) are now protesting despite Nepal medical association not even announcing a strike and if this is not addressed, situation can get even worse. A lot of Doctors are simply saying, Provide us security and yes, if some Doctor has done wrong file a case at NMC and there will be investigation.. a ordinary Nepali cannot say death of their family members is due to negligence without a investigation.
In order to stop this there should be strong law against both sides. There should be proper channel to report against doctor to review if there is any fault in treatment procedure which should be done by independent medical professional. Hospital should be made more liable to hefty fines if there is any clear faults. But if any patients/related takes law in to their own hand they should also be severely punished similarly.
Bal kanti is run by mafia. Mero sathi ko newly born son was born with an intestine twisted abnormality. The doctor told him to take his son to private hospital (which they also work part-time in that private hospital). His financial status was not good enough for him to take his son to private hospital, so he said he would wait for bed in the queue. Bichara sojho thiyo mero sathi madhesh ko bhayera hola, he called me and mine friend since jaba usko bed paune time ayo, the doctor which was from tharu community told him his son treatment can be put in the hold and other serious case has come so they need to vacant that bed for another child who was from tharu community. Pretty sure, the patient was related to the doctor’s relatives. Like emergency case bhata tharai non emergency case ma rakheko thiyo mero sathi ko bhakar janmeko baccha lai. When we went to the hospital, my friend told nurse called his name for the bed instead of the other patient. may be doctor forgot to tell her. maile mero sathi lai you got the bed by legal procedure and don’t give that bed to another since afno baccha bhaneko afnai huncha and his child treatment was also emergency. He agreed and took the bed.

My other friend got so angry and confronted the doctor who the fuck do u think and who gave u the right whether u want to do operation or not. Pachi aru side ko doctor ra administration ko manche haru le hami haru lai testo bhannu bhayeko haina waha le seriously nalinu bhanera samjauna thalyo. Maile la usle tyo bed arko patient lai diyo bhane tapaile arko bed dinchu bhanera guarantee garnu bhanda tapailai bato ma kunai car le hanyo bhane tapai bachnu huncha ki hudaina bhanera guarnetee garna saknu huncha bhanera po hapkayo malai. Pachi feri aru doctor haru le hami haru side ma lagera situation cool garna khojyo. I told my friend not to give that bed and don’t be afraid. Pachi usko choro ko operation ma death bhayo. I think out of 10 patient only 1 or 2 was alive on that day.
Hospital administration is at fault here. They overwork doctors so much that Doctors dont have time to talk to each patient in a proper way.
It’s not about whehter doctor are right or wrong
only thing is one cannot beat professionals in workplace no matter the case
there is law to discrete right and wrong
if the doctor are afraid to tell their opinion or treat the patient bcz of threat then they cannot give correct treatment.
Main thing is one cannot come right in your workplace and beat shit out of you

I had appointment with senior doctor 50+ years old today, and he was talking about this strike with nurse present in the room as the other decided that they will go on strike from today. He was more worried about the patient waiting outside rather than the strike agendas. He also mentioned something about the some doctors specially young doctors not being bit polite to patients. That being said, that is only 50% responsibility of doctor other 50% is our responsibility, working 18-24 hour shift tends to make one bit irritated and tired. And if they are not being polite it doesn’t mean we should also be aggressive. If we’re polite they will answer to our questions and enquiry, we should just give them space to where they can work safely. This is specially true in public hospitals..
And what about the patients and patients party? Are they so well behaved? Is it okay for doctors to be beat up? What choice do doctors have? Doctors have to treat people, they cant say no to someone who is dying, but when those people die, they get blamed, this attitude is what makes doctors in nepal so ill treated, because people like you have no decency or respect! Doctors vanda ni anya karmachari ko byahora khattam laagxa. Hospital ko fact nai yehi ho:
1. Patient vanda staff badhi pidit hunxan.
2. Staff le haina, staff ko kaam patient la janya hunu parxa. Ka jaane, k garne vanera.

Doctors shouldn’t be held so highly in our society so that their ego doesn’t skyrocket. Doesn’t help that most people are already stressed abt hospital bills. Laws should be made regarding doctors, some fear factors like losing their license in case of malpractice.
But that doesn’t mean they should get beaten tho. I’d say to have like few cops in the hospital ready (like how they have in clz during bachelor exams), not sure how feasible it is tho.

Timi sangai emotion ma dubne ho bhane baki pateint ko xai k .
not all but most of the doctors are full of ego and think like they are above everybody ,
once when the doctor suggested a lab test for my dad , my dad asked what it is about , the doctor lost his sense there and yo test garaunu vayena vane bachna garo xa and everything without explaining anything

Just dont go to doctors kurai sakyo. Doctors cant pretend to sad all their career just because someone else died.
My opinion is if this goes on, in 5-10 years there will be no doctors left in Nepal. Good luck with dhami-jhakris then.

Hospital administration and faulty system of politics, less doctors are the major reasons. If you ever go to hospital, if you are fine too then you will feel sick due to long standing lines of patients in both private and govt hospitals.
I have seen a doc not arrived, even by 2hr late in grande hospital and the patient got furious then said if I have to wait in private hospital, I would go elsewhere and went to ask refund.
In govt hospitals no staff treat patients like they are even people and feel like beating the shit out of the staffs but the stress have caused it due to worst system and less docs. And the older staffs are always in sad face and angry but new fresh staffs are usually fine.
People in this comment section is the reason why Nepal ranks so low in IQ. People brainwashed by cheap media posts with no research, no knowledge to backup their claims. This country does not deserve the sacrifice of doctors. Better for young doctors to leave the country and go where your work is valued and the society is civilized and respectful.
Also, if you have such negativity towards medical professionals, DO NOT go to hospital/clinic. I assure you doctors will be fine without your “money” or shit
I once went to Patan Hospital to check my skin (2013). My appt was set up with a young fuchche doctor to whom I asked that if I had to take my shirt off. He replied that ma sanga jadugarko chhadi bhayeko jasto dekhyo? I told him that maile sodheko matrai ho, then he told me that I was in the wrong hospital in Patan. We then exchanged few expletives and then we had a unilateral exchange of punches and kicks. The surprising thing is that police never came, and I never heard anything from police or the hospital regarding what happened.
