Not a mechanical engineer Tara I graduated with 3.8 GPA in Biotech and my salary as a research scientist was NRs 10,000. Not even peanuts, peanuts ko dhulo. It increased to 12000 and then to 15000 in 1.5 years but after that I set off to USA. This was 5 yrs back.
Try for abroad . You will get entry salary around 15-25k ☹️. They even ask for experience for this salary range too.

Mechanical Engineering job hune desh haru bhanekai highly industrialized countries ho, jun desh ma industry nai chaina eato desh ma kaam chaina. Masters ko lagi apply garne, masters garda gardai intern khojne ani job ni paucha. Hya ta 10-12k ho starting.

Market Reality: Mechanical Engineers are paid 10K+. I have seen someone with 4 years of good experience making only 25K.
Very bad. My friend was lucky to get 25k in starting salary. Nepal pays professionals very poorly. Best bet is to apply to foreign companies after you get 2 years of experience here. USA, Germany, Denmark have good jobs for engineering professionals. But unless you have your own Company, making money might be a bit difficult.

University and the percentage doesn’t really matter if you try to do the work in Nepal and also the salary will be too minimum. 3 years ago one of my seniors who also passed mechanical from WRC(IOE) with 70+ percentage worked at 15k in the beginning. So just think about your carrier and go for abroad. You will gain extra qualification while you can earn for your own study as well. After your study, you will have a good job waiting there somewhere. And going abroad for further study doesn’t mean you have to do ME. You may go for management subjects such as project management, MBA etc.
Also Nepal jasto desh maa electronics, mechanical engineer haru ko ramro utilization pani hudaina. Padeko kura ra garne kaam nai purai farak hunxa Nepal maa. So better go to the country where you can really work as an engineer.

My starting salary was 32k 10 years ago. Some potential industries in nepal are hydropower, automobile service and sales, hospital, insurance, academia, cement factory, steel factory, industries like surya churot, cg, unilever, breweries, airport, airlines, heavy equipments. Starting salary should be around 30-40k. Some industries are good for long term growth while others are good for short term experience and skill building. Dont listen to narrowminded redditors who have limited real life experience. Mechanical engineering will always be the king of all engineerings and mechanical engineers are the most versatile and highly skilled individuals i have seen in my career. You will have an awesome career. An advice:rather than flaunting your marks and your IOE, develop and highlight your skills. Apart from real skills everythings equal to shit.

One of the professors I know is looking for a PhD student in Mechanical engineering here in the states. Lemme know if you’re interested.
If you are going for salary, your best bet is to get a job at Unilever, or any big company which pays a decent 35k+ per month to freshers. Or a teaching/research job at KU where pay is reasonable compared to what the market pays (might be 35 or 40k+ per month). If you have strong connections, you can land good opportunities.
But usually, the pay is around 15 to 20k per month. That’s what you get in your account if you are lucky otherwise even lower. So, most graduates work for 1-2 years, get some experience, don’t care about pay, and go abroad.
The rise in salary is not much (where I work is 15-20% after a year of completion) as companies are aware that you can be easily replaced with another fresher who will work for 15k next year so, they benefit if someone leaves after a year or two.
