Nepal Airlines Corporation Forms Sub-Committee to Procure Aircraft and Enhance Domestic Air Connectivity

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has recently formed a sub-committee to develop a plan for the procurement of two aircraft. The purpose of this plan is to enhance air connectivity at the provincial level by operating flights to urban destinations. The decision was made during a meeting of the NAC Board of Directors on May 9.

The sub-committee, led by Senior Captain Sudhir Samsher Rai, consists of nine members and has already commenced its work. Their objective is to prepare a comprehensive report within a span of 21 days. The report will outline the details of the aircraft procurement plan.

Currently, NAC faces challenges in operating flights to urban and commercially viable areas due to a shortage of aircraft that can cater to airports in urban locations. The press release from NAC states that they aim to conduct provincial flights from various cities, including Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi.

The formation of this sub-committee signifies NAC’s commitment to expand its services and improve air connectivity within Nepal. By acquiring two additional aircraft, they aim to meet the growing demand for air travel and facilitate easier access to urban areas throughout the country.
