I am currently in Nepal for business and there is something here that you guys do that I don’t quite understand and would like a local’s perspective on.
I offer people jobs here on the regular, jobs with significantly higher pay than average and you guys never call me back. It is very common for me to meet someone 3-4 times, discussing the nature of their job and responsibilities only for me to never hear from them again. Since the people I am in talks with are in need of money I find this particulary odd. It’s like they don’t care about the money and if I don’t call them, so be it.
Could there be a social/cultural explanation to this behavior?

I find it strange! May be what you offer is not legal or you are asking them to do things that they would rather not. What is your project? Job description and remuneration deal. If it seems legit people will definitely cone. I can send you some young people looking for job.
JOb is MLM, a pyramid scheme.
it usually is the other way round. employers don’t call.
and that sets the mindset that we are probably not gonna get selected and they don’t bother to check up with the employers.
I have to make clear that these were not interview meetings. These were meetings after the interviews where we were discussing how we should move forward.
These people were more like business partners rather than employees.
I don’t want to publicly say too much about the nature of these projects but they were legal and legit
Coz here if someone says call me back for the job then it means he is not hiring or trying to ditch that guy in polite manner.
I guess normally it is expected that if someone is hired the person hiring will call to let them know. It isn’t common to call and check with employer in Nepal even if money is needed. And I think that behaviour is supported because usually most of us have some safety net to fall back on like most of us live with our parents. So even if someone is desperate for money they might not be that desperate compared to let’s say international student abroad who cannot ask money with their parents?
Only few will ever call back asking for the status. It’s the norm for normal job interview. But kinda weird if you have met multiple times.
Even if a person accepts your offer and informs you that they will join you after a month ( resignation period), don’t expect that they will join your company after a month.
