my gharbeti gets drunk and harasses his wife at night, and i often hear her crying. kailekaai rati he comes down ani room ma basne haru sanga ni karauna thalcha. like when even a boy relative comes at kt basne room, he says ‘mero ghar hotel ho, kta liyera aauna laai.’ i won’t stay here, but i feel sorry for gharbeti aunty. when i suggest calling the police, she refuses. i don’t know ‘j vaye pani husband ho’ vanera ho or police le kei gardena vanera, because i’ve seen the police came one night and did nothing. i’m unfamiliar with the legal system. what should i do?

No do not call the police. You dont know why she is not speaking up or taking action herself. Maybe she/her children are dependent on his earning. What happens if he goes to jail to her/her children? Ask her if she has a plan when/if things go bad/really violent, like where she will go who she will call. If shes got it figured out, she knows what she’s doing. Else you ask her to think about and plan for anytime he get too violent and is a threat to her/childrens safety.
