Baja Band meaning the one who produced “Samjhana Matrai Bho?” That song is just so good. Sad that the band is non-existent these days.
I don’t see Phosphenes in this list. Sad. They’re doing so much in the Indie genre.
I wholeheartedly disagree with Dibesh Pokhrel in 3. Rest is fine.
Diwas dai on top because he’s the OG of recent Nepali music industry.
I’d add Oasis Thapa and Albatross as well. There’s also this rock band called Space.
What is the ranking based on? Just personal preference? Or musical ability? I agree with Diwas Gurung at number 1 since he has influenced a lot of the current crop of popular Nepali artists like Bartika, Yugal and Bikki Gurung. I’m pretty sure he produced all of their albums.
Gauley Bhai is also a good number 2. Their music is unique and flavorful and they are definitely a super talented band. But they are not Nepali even though they sing in Nepali. It doesn’t really matter to me though.
And after that, I disagree with all other placements. Personally, I find Ankit Shrestha’s music really boring and derivative. I don’t think he is musically that talented either. Baaja Band does not even exist. They released like 3-4 songs and that’s it. I only Brihat Pahari through Diwas Gurung and as a member of the band Plebian, which had just one song and then disappeared. So I don’t know on what basis you have ranked him at number 6.
Jerusha Rai and Rachana Dahal should both be higher based solely on their vocal ability and lyricism. Yugal and Ishan Onta are fine I guess.
I don’t know on what basis you chose these artists but there are few that I would add to the list, like Night band as a whole and Jason Kunwar and Shreeti Pradhan as individual artists.
Had to Google each one first 😅
– Monkey Temple Nepal
– Pahenlo Batti Muni
– Phosphenes
– Ulto Pulto
– Rachana Dahal
Sabin rai .
I’m disappointed that noone in the comments mentioned Bartika Eam Rai.

4. Nabin K bhattarai
5. Raju Lama
6. Sugam Pokharel
7. Sabin Rai
8. Anil Singh
9. Deepak Bajracharya
10. Yogeswor Amatya
I don’t listen to any of these artists. I am an old-schooler. Here are my all-time favorite artists’ lists:
1. Nabin K. Bhattarai
2. Adrian Pradhan (1974 A.D.)
3. Jeewan Gurung (The Edge)
4. Sabin Rai
5. Raju Lama
Not being an ass but **Nepali** and some artists on the list are not Nepali.
somehow I know none of the above artists.
Yugal Gurung fav nepali artist.
Dewas Gurung and his LAIJAUU FUCKING EPIC
I don’t understand why people like Rachana so much, malai ta gaune style nai kasto weird lagcha… As in voice nai yesto ho ki k ho
All of the mentioned musicians are quite talented! Tara mero bichar ma Tribal Rain (used to) make some of the most unique sounding music in the Nepalese music industry. In a period where artists like Sushant KC, Yabesh Thapa, Sajjan Raj Vaisya, etc. are the most popular among the next generation of Nepalese people I am confident that if Tribal Rain would not have met such an untimely end, they would’ve been some of the leading artists in Nepal today. No hate towards the above mentioned artists btw. They’re fine but a little too generic for me at times.
none of them are even close to 90s and early 2000s artists.
gauley bhai nepali artist haian
Kta haru are also pretty good
Never heard any of them except 1 and 4
Nicee lineup 👍
Phosphenes, ulto pulto, pahenlo batti muni, bartika eam rai
I recently stumbled upon diwas gurung and i think he’s extemely underrated and deserves more recognizition
I like mosttt Bartika and Old sajjan raj vaidyas songs. Everything else is a one hit wonder ,like , I would like one song, and don’t like the rest.
Now a days I like sujan chapagain songs.
Monkey temple, The root-less, The dreamcatchers,Angu Bhutia.
They are pretty good imo.

Diwas gurung that Machi kadaileh?
i never heard of anyone except jerusha rai (got bombarded with her tiktoks last week)
Jerusha rai, rachana dahal baahek aru ta google haanu paryo lol 💀
I only knew Diwas, as for Nepali artists(if you can call them that) I’ve been listening to Zac Rai, Aizen, Brijesh Shrestha, Jay Author. They’re heavily kpop inspired, specially Jay Park elements sprinkled in.
Oh and Rohit Jung Chhetri.
0 zero
I am sorry but realized that my taste of music is entirely different.
1. Diwash Gurung
2. Yugal Gurung
3. Isan Raj Onta🤌

Aren’t gauley bhai indians?
Bartika
Albatross
Cobweb
Dibesh
Pahenlo batti muni
Phosphenes
Elements
Ulto pulto
Space
Uniq poet
Never heard of them mate
Clarification: Above ranking is more of indie artists whose music space is not as wide as other widely known artists like Sabin Rai, 1974 AD, Nepathya, Albatross, Laure.
1. Tribal Rain (RIP Rahul Rain) if you guys haven’t heard his songs, go listen to the album “Roka Yo Samay” without shuffling the songs.
2. Diwas Gurung (He is the behind the scenes promoter of many of the new popular indie artists like Bartika, Yugal)
3. Bajaa band for their authenticity (wish they were still around)
4. Bartika is epic, tara usko geet sunnu bitikei purano sambandha haru ko yaad le mann ghochcha.
Rest is more on the same line.
