I have been consuming news that shutters sabbai banda vayo re, nurse haru aba 2 barsa ma sakincha re, youth 10 years ma sakincha re. And I be like really? There are 195 countries in the world, and the news are looking as if Nepal ma ta Syria and Ukraine type war vako jastai dekhincha. But are shutters really closing because there is no business or are we adopting online business? Daily 3,000 people are leaving, but people will come back. Sabbai ko PR/Green Card pani hudaina ra maximum are foreign workers. Nurse ko deman every year same hudaina, at some point it will saturate. And I was wondering, is all the hype real and most important worth it? Nepal ma kei chaina kei chaina vanxan, as a person living abroad I see tons of opportunity. Nepal ma ta kaile kei thena, bomb padkeko ho paila, load shedding vako ho, things are getting better. What you guys think?

Last 10 years herda, it feels salary has doubled, but expenses has increased by 5 times. 10 years back my school charged 800 rs a month, now they are charging 3500 rs a month, same class. Education being a basic need cracks the back of majority of parents. And don’t get me even started on food prices. People offer 15000 base salary in ktm, I don’t know how can someone manage to live off that , even a single person, who has to pay rent and live.
Tiktok rw Facebook ko hype haina Nepal really economic crisis ma xa. I have been working as an accountant for a company and we sell items needed for house construction. In the 78/79 year, there was so much sales that we didn’t even have time for a break. But since the later parts of 78/79 year Sales are so low that we just sit around all day. All those big fabricators who bought from us closed their shop and are in abroad. Their reason was that they couldn’t pay interest. So yes there is economic crisis in Nepal.
The problem at the root is the lack of revenue generating investment in the country. Nepal doesn’t have major Industries in virtually any sectors. There is zero production and daily consumption.
We don’t earn even 10% from exports and import so much every year. It is barely managed by the remittance and the loans we’ve taken. The USD in nepal is depleting fast and so is our purchasing power.
Of course the prices are going up even after the inflation has lessened. The value of NPR itself is decreasing. The rich are laundering money and going abroad after cashing out in $$, while the poor are barely building homes for themselves.
It’s a broken economy from the inside out. We have to profit as a country, give value to ourselves by self-sustaining first.
Investors are running away and there is no venture. The government should really do something about this to encourage the private sector before everything collapses.
What opportunities do you see in Nepal? As someone who is 99% sure that I’ll be living in Nepal, I’m genuinely curious.

It is worldwide , Nepal is now more and more integrated to the world’s economy , remittance , tourism etc .
Every 2nd guy/gal after completing SLC / +2 are looking towards studying/moving abroad. With the income you earn in Nepal, buying a house or a land in Nepal is impossible, kharcha ta pugdaina kati lai, land ra house ta dherai tada ko kura in a city. The effort one gives in Nepal tesko monetary compensation currently thik chaina, at least teti ko effort bata besi compensation bidesh ma paincha. Nepal essai ni dherai population bhako country haina, neither people are giving birth to 3-4 childrens on average here, 10 years ma sakney haru europe, america, australia, Nasakney haru qatar, saudi. Qatar saudi ka haru ta auchan farkera mostly, but Europe, America gaeka haru, bachha ni tei janmauchan, ani uni haru lai Nepal farkera auna ajha garo huncha.
Believe it or not, but if the trend of this going abroad continues, Nepal will face domestic crisis, Crisis like shortage of manpower, country lai economic way ma improve garney kura haru essai kum chan, ajha kum hudai janchan.

Nepal is getting hollow from inside.
After COVID , Russia Ukraine war and OPEC decided to reduce production of Petroleum, the whole world is going through shitty crisis ne.
It’s not just about fleeting TikTok trends; it’s about the harsh realities our homeland faces. Despite promises of progress, the nation often finds itself taking two steps forward and ten steps back, caught in a dance of corruption and political games. Economic challenges, inflation, and a growing diaspora add to the complexities.
Idk about others but health crisis chai sure hunxa… no doctor or nurse will stay back here in nepal
Economic crisis worldwide nai vaeraxa aile, as someone who is living abroad, even yhaa pani living cost has increased.
Saying that, I went to Nepal for 2 months recently but the living cost in here and back in Nepal was almost the same (Kathmandu mah) and I was in shock. So Nepal mah manxe haru le kasari afford garnu hunxa hola vanerw ma jaile soxxu. Market price vane dollar ko vau mah xa but income chai rupees ko vau mah.

It isn’t just tiktok/facebook hype but the reality of our country. Country situation baru worse bhako tara government progressive ra willing to move ahead bhako bhaye better hunthiyo tara nata present state ramro cha nata government so future pani khasai ramro chahi chahina. Things are getting better at an extremely slow rate and its not even a steady increase in “betterment”. It would be promising if the rate was slow but yet was a steady increase but we take always take 2 steps forward and manage to take 10 steps backward. Listen to the news the corruption is rampant, just last week our president publicly released a murderer from life time imprisonment due to the criminal’s ties to Congress government, noone even talks about it nor does anyone care that the president so openly made a unlawful decision to release a murderer under the shadow of “aam maafi”. Jati j gare ni last ma elect yehi shere, oli ra praachanda hunchan. Vote han ne ustai hun tara haneko le ni last ma prime minister shere ko satta prachanda paye feri arkai drama bhayera congress ko bhayo last ma president ni. Nagrikta invalid bhako home minister huncha jun minister bhaye pachi tha huncha. Aru kura ta jhan k garnu shutter bandha bhako online ko karan le matra haina although tyo euta factor chahi ho. In general nai ahile restaurants bhahek manche haru katai kehi kinna gayira chahinan suneko chu. Business sabai sector ma down cha bank ma loan pani dherai le lirako chahina sunya chu. Inflation ni cha economic activity ni chahina, price ghatne ko namo nisan chahina. Ani tyo mathi manche bahira gako gai chan, export bhaneko kei chahina tei remitance chuse ra basne ho hami. Import garna rule sajilo banaidinchan baru export/production garna garo banaidinchan so situation chahi ali hopeless nai cha tara somehow Nepal is surviving ahile samma.
Shutter banda hunxa thulo city ma sansar ma kai pani yesto gharai pixey shutter xaina not a big deal. People buy food for weeks from big grocery stores. Shutter ma koi jadaina. China bata 200rs ma lyauni rs1500 ma bechxan ani kasley kinxa?? Kasai ley kindaina so shutter banda hunxa. Thanga, lutna paye matra khusie hunxan nepali haru over night dhani hunu parxa kirana pasal kholya jairey haru lai ani ka bata hunxa. People know the worth, 200 ko saman lai 1500 kasainley haldaina bistara sabai banda hunxa dhukkai
Dude our country is literally dying.
Everything is subjective. Perception is reality. Everything happening is dynamic and unique, So don’t judge times of despair. Just think about yourself and acquire abundance. When you do that think about others😂🤣🤣
You have to be extremely rich or from criminal background with political support in order to survive in Nepal..
Its true. Nepal is looking at demographic crisis in hand. Depopulation and global warming are going to cause massive issues. Most urban population are only investing on expensive houses with the hope of getting rent which does not even cover 1% of cost of house in most cases. Still they are building houses like crazy. Yes the rate has delayed and it will only delay with time. The only migration happening to nepal is from bordering states of india. This will also stop once india develops further and pushes these rural communities back to developed part of india.
Gym jau TikTok hernu vandA
maybe go outside and talk to people/community instead of basing opinion off internet and social media.
Nepal is not in crisis as hyped & it is not awful as the youths see it but the reverse analogy that most youths are getting pessimistic about the country without proper skills and education is true. And barring 1% , i do not understand a teenager’s frustration with country.
Okay we dont have it for the long term, but nobody is preventing them to get educated and develop skills needed. They can defer this situation until they get a bachelors degree, try to get some employment and if not go for your Master’s abroad. 70-80% kids dont even complete their education abroad, so what is the point? And what is the frustration? What skills do people aged 16-23 bring to the plate for the country? Even if the crisis would start, nepal can deal with it given it has two of the fast growing economies to support it.
Remittance flow has been phenomenal. This will not stop as more people are leaving. But this amount could have been doubled if G2G agreements and skill upgradation could be done.
For Nepal to go into economic crisis, it has to start from the middle east where millions of Nepalese work. Agree with OP that most of the people will return from middle east eventually with some skills or capital investment. Economy will rectify itself.
But **voting except Emale, congress and Maobadi is of paramount importance to initiate long anticipated change in Nepal.** Results will come eventually and not instantly. Be patient, be calm and urge people you know to vote for change in 2084.
New ones might not know well it but they will master it better than the oldies as they are baggage free and they have that willingness, expertise and technical accumen. Just like you think you know better than the earlier generation, this new breed of people into politics will only get better as they are yet to peak with experience. Give them votes to form a govt and they will deliver!
Edit: world is in inflation right now with rumors of recession. Dont know why everyone here thinks the world is in economic crisis, surprised!
Nepal is in good condition than before but our expectations has skyrocketed due to social media.
I was thinking Nepal ma basne manche aile ko time ma yetti optimistic pani raichan or may be he is a 16 year old kid who doesnt really understand economy and finance and then last sentence ma as a person living abroad re 😒 Dude, just stfu.
After effect of COVID
Its not just Nepal. The world economy is struggling. We have been having these cycles once in a while. We should be back up in a year or more. But the worst is yet to come.
Even online marketplaces are suffering sastodeal, gyapu okdam and others are in life support. From what I have seen even daraz sales have slowed down a bit.Few small online stores are doing very well because of the vitality they have managed to achieve in TikTok and other social media.I agree that some customers have shifted to online but the imports have massively dropped off which wouldnot have happened if vast majority customers shifted online. The construction companies have not been paid for the work they have been doing. They are the major players in the money cycle. Also middle class and average nepali money is stuck in Sahakari. People are not able to get their deposit back let alone get loans. Also an article in setopati claims that the federal government has not transferred money to the local and province government for the last two months
+2 sakekko bhai bahini haru bidesh hidirako chan, hajaru ko sankhya ma on daily basis. Boomers and are helping consultancies businesses now by keeping the corrupt old leaders in power and soon old age nursing home business will flourish because their kids aren’t coming back to take care of them. Jay Boomers!
Nepal is not in a crisis currently, but there are long term problems building up and unaddressed, that will definitely cause crises in the future.
For most Nepalis currently, standards of living are rising, the State is at peace, democratic elections are being held, etc.
The biggest present crisis if anything is the lack of stability provided by our current Constitution, which means Governments don’t last enough to complete their legislative agenda.
If we can fix that by electing an actual majority government, we can finally start addressing these issues.
