How to not get scammed when seller has to courier your item to you?

I had a deal for an iPhone 13 pro max with a seller from outside ktm valley. Now, he needs to courier the phone and he said that I had to make the payment before the delivery. After I mentioned that I can’t trust him as the phone could be defective and it could be a scam, he said that I can make half of the payment and send the other half after the delivery. He even mentioned that he will provide the phone along with box and bill. But Im still skeptical about this deal as the seller has to trust me blindly for this to happen.

Is this the way courier deals work or could it be a scam?

  1. You don’t need a phone that bad bro. Trust your instincts and keep your money. The person on the other side might not be a scammer but you wouldn’t want to risk it to find out.

  2. nooooooooooooooo… it’s a scam. just mention that one of your friend happens to be in his city & will pick up the phone from his shop & ask for his location and mention that your friend will be arriving soon.. he will start making excuses & do not fall for 50% advance payment bait… “a common scam in the eastern districts of Nepal” he makes away with 50% payment & not send the phone that’s it .

  3. Its a proper scam
    Kindly don’t fall for it.

When the seller is telling he want half, that’s fishy asf
Cuz what if you don’t send him remaining money ?

It’s a risk for him as well. But he seems to be cool with it, which i am not digesting at all.

One more time, it’s a proper scam.

  4. Looks like you haven’t read many threads here mentioning how people got scammed with these shady deals in hamrobazar and other sites. Just find something else. If you absolutely have to, I guess you can use esewa escrow service but even that is a hassle. Just find something else.

  5. Nope. I ran into the same situation where the seller posted that the it is in KTM Valley and then I started talking to him and then he says right now he is outside of valley and need money to get back to KTM and was asking me to send money and will delivery the phone at the end of the day.

People are just too much these days. I thought Indians are the biggest online scammers but no we are up there too.

  6. Don’t do it. Ki bank bata kata kata kura milauna milxa. Like scam ho vaney refund huney gari. Aru tira thaha vayena, paypal wala card haru ma chai milxa iirc.
