It’s surprising to me that most of the people I know and Most of people in the polls support the ban on TikTok. I question to myself, are they stupid? I don’t understand why people would willingly give up their freedom. Freedom to have one more platform to give them voice as we have seen in Israel and Plaestine war. Also why just Tiktok? Meta(Facebook) has influenced elections in third world countries including TikTok and here we are banning TikTok.
How are they going to implement it? Porn was banned because of Nirmala Panta rape case, government felt that rape case happen due to porn when the couldn’t catch the culprit. I have yet to see a stat proving decrease in rape cases due to ban on porn. But even tho porn is banned it’s as easily available as it was before the ban. We just need to install a free VPN from playstore which literally takes seconds. So how exactly are they going to implement the TikTok ban? And what exactly is it going to achieve?
They said Tiktok is increasing social tensions but so is Facebook and any other apps like Tiktok.
It’s a slippery slope. If they ban Tiktok today who can’t say they won’t ban Facebook or Reddit tomorrow and as I have seen, People actually love giving up their rights in this country. There are people who make bad content everywhere but you can’t ban an entire platform because of that. Road accidents happen, doesn’t mean you’d ban all vehicles. You just increase the road safety.

Tiktok ban might just be just a stunt to divert people’s attention. Not even US Canada UK or Australia have managed to ban the Chinese app. They will most likely not proceed with the ban. If they do then blocking access to information in this information age will be nothing but total madness from our inept retirement overdue illiterate leadership!
