A cadre of Nepali youths recently unveiled a groundbreaking mobile app tailored for short videos. Capturing the escalating trend of short reels among the youth, Idea Jar Company proudly introduced the app under the name ‘Ramailo.’
The company expressed delight in presenting ‘Ramailo’ as a locally cultivated Nepali product. In an era dominated by short video platforms on social networks, Nepali users were limited to foreign apps. ‘Ramailo’ now stands as a homegrown alternative, and the company anticipates a favorable response from the Nepali audience.
In the midst of government struggles to regulate social networks like TikTok and Facebook, the company emphasized the ease of regulating a Nepali-developed app. ‘Ramailo’ encompasses features such as video watching and uploading, content exploration, liking, commenting, sharing, and live streaming. Additionally, the company has plans to reward content creators based on the quality and popularity of their content.
Accessible to users aged 13 and above, the ‘Ramailo’ app aims to address issues prevalent in other social media platforms. The company has established ‘community guidelines’ for users, promising reviews and appropriate action for content conflicting with these guidelines.
Moreover, the app strives to assist the government in maintaining legality during video production by addressing disorderly or illegal activities. The company assured that reported videos would undergo investigation, leading to content removal or account suspension if deemed necessary.

Idea Jar, an IT company in operation in Nepal since 2019, has released the app on the Google Play Store, with an impending launch on the App Store for iPhone users. The company urges users to promptly report any issues, emphasizing continuous development based on user suggestions. As the app gains traction, a dedicated hotline for government agencies will be established to streamline regulation efforts.
