SEE 2081 Result Out: 61.81% Pass Rate with Khumjung School’s Stunning 100% Success!

The air in Nepal was thick with anticipation, finally giving way to relief and excitement on June 27, 2025 (Asar 13, 2082), as the National Examination Board (NEB), Examination Control Office, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, published the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2081 . This highly awaited announcement came three months after the examinations were concluded .

This year’s SEE saw a massive participation of 514,017 students across the country . The demographics of the test-takers included 257,730 female students, 256,311 male students, and 30 students from other categories . The exams were conducted at 2,079 (or 2,080) examination centers nationwide, including unique locations such as prisons in Kathmandu and Dailekh, a juvenile reform home in Bhaktapur, and even a Nepali school in Japan .

There was a palpable sense of progress in this year’s results . Out of the total participants, 271,299 students achieved a grade, marking a 61.81 percent pass rate . This was a significant improvement compared to the previous year, where only 222,472 out of 464,785 students (47.86 percent) were graded . However, 167,597 students were classified as ‘Non-Graded’ (NG) this year . The results were published in accordance with the Letter Grading Directive 2078 (with its third amendment) . To be eligible for higher education, students must secure a minimum of 35 percent marks in theoretical subjects and 40 percent in internal assessments, separately . This translates to at least 27 marks out of 75 in theoretical subjects and 10 marks out of 25 in internal assessments . Students scoring less than 35 percent were categorized as ‘Non-Graded’ (NG) and are not eligible for admission to Class 11 . A particular challenge persisted in Mathematics, which remained a difficult subject for students, with the highest number of ‘Non-Graded’ students recorded in it .

  • Missing Results: If a student finds that the result for any subject is missing, they should download the ‘Result Inquiry Form’ from the SEE website, attach a copy of their admit card, and submit it via email to the concerned Education Development and Coordination Unit or directly to the SEE office .

Amidst the general statistics, a truly remarkable story emerged from the remote Solukhumbu district. Khumjung Secondary School, also known as Hillary School, achieved a stunning 100 percent pass rate in this year’s SEE . A total of 27 students participated from the school, with 2 achieving A+ grades, 12 securing A grades, 11 obtaining B+ grades, and 2 receiving B grades . Khamshu Ongdu Sherpa from Khumjung Secondary School topped the entire Solukhumbu district with an impressive 3.9 GPA . Furthermore, Rita Doma Sherpa, also from Khumjung Secondary School, achieved the highest GPA (3.64) among female students in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality .

This success story is deeply rooted in history. Khumjung Secondary School was established by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1961 , and it has since made significant contributions to the development of education in the Solukhumbu region . The Himalayan Trust Nepal (HTN) has played a pivotal role in this, providing support for teacher salaries since 2012 to facilitate English medium education in Khumbu schools . Currently, HTN supports the salaries of 23 teachers across 13 schools . The Trust’s broader contributions extend to providing teaching materials, child-friendly furniture, and scholarships to 108 schools in Solukhumbu and Dolakha . Additionally, in collaboration with EduTech Nepal, computer labs have been established in 43 schools across Solukhumbu and Khotang districts .

Solukhumbu district itself shone brightly, topping the Koshi Province with an 87 percent pass rate among its 14 districts . The impressive results from Khumjung Secondary School and the district as a whole demonstrate that providing quality education is achievable even in rural areas. Pasang Dawa Sherpa, the Chairman of Himalayan Trust Nepal, expressed his delight, stating that Sir Edmund Hillary’s small beginning has achieved such an impressive height today . This year’s SEE results truly highlight the power of dedicated effort and strategic support in transforming educational outcomes.
