Seeking advice for my trek to Gosaikunda and Langtang tomorrow.

I’m concerned about my gear: one pair of paid caliber shoes (unsure if they grip well, or should I buy Goldstar trekking boots?), two socks, scratched old sunglasses, a basic North Face jacket, a thermal coat, Paracetamol, Jeevan jal, phone, and charger. Can you assist in creating a checklist? Any other essentials I should include? Also, guidance on routes would be appreciated as it’s my first trek.

Plan was scheduled immideately.

  1. Wake up early and start your trek so that you can cover longer distance at a slower pace and stop at a lodge before it gets dark. Walk at your own pace and take rest whenever u feel u are pushing yourself, since its your first trek. Carry medicine for altitude sickness.

  2. Get Goldstar trekking shoes. Get a quality bag. One proper jacket and a comfortable set of trekking apparel. That’s all you need. Aru semi-essential bhaneko ta you’ve already figured out. Powerbank rakha, itinerary anusar early morning hidnu cha bhaney torch euta with extra batteries.

Sunscreen, moisturiser haru ni rakha. Wool cap and so on. Lighter ani a little plastic rope, the ones they use to tie egg crates. These ropes help in tying torn shoes or anything else.

  3. First and foremost, invest in good gear if you can and especially if you want to continue hiking and trekking in the future. I have had split shoes and broken bag straps and there is nothing worse than having to continue with such. Besides having a good pair of shoes and a reliable backpack to carry your stuff, the most important thing is to change into dry and warm clothes at the end of the day. Therefore, carry extra pairs you can change into while letting your wet (with sweat) clothes to dry out overnight.
Other essentials you might want to consider: piyush water purifier; toilet paper ( not the whole roll – just take some); trail mix (snack); handwash; super-glue ( for anything broken)

  4. Acetazolamide tablet for altitude sickness.
Loperamide for diarrhoea. Simple medicine haru, antibiotics etc ani euta crepe bandage for sprains

Powerbank thulo vanda ni syano but with solar charging if possible.

Snow ma ni hidnu parxa so grip ramro chainxa. Get crampons if you can. Ani milyo vane waterproof shoes.

    Take a torch light

Pace ekdum maintain garera hidnu parxa. Baru ali bihanai start garni. Jasto beginner le ni sakxa.

Tiger balm or Moov spray or something like that for your leg pain 😔

Unnecessary item kei carry na garnu, bekar weight matra badhxa.

If you’re having trouble carrying all the weight around, ask the teahouse/hotel you’re staying at to call a hotel at higher altitude. They might send someone to carry your stuff if you promise to eat/stay at their place.

Menu items are priced for foreigners so “nepali haru lai ta ali milaidinu” vanni

Take a pair of slippers if your shoes aren’t waterproof. And always leave your shoes and clothes by the fire so they’re dry the other day.

Locals will usually sell you sturdy sticks for very cheap if you don’t have a trekking pole. You’ll need one over there.

Poncho for snow and rare rainfall.

You’ll feel hot and sweaty but always have something covering your whole body. We tend to take off our caps and the cold wind really gets you there.

    Enjoy your trek!
